An editor thinks something might be wrong with this page. That editor can't be arsed to fix it, but can rest assured that they've done their encyclopaedic duty by sticking on a tag. Please allow this tag to languish indefinitely at the top of the page, since nobody knows exactly what the tagging editor was worked up about.
Greetings, my name is Harry Mitchell, my username is HJ Mitchell and most people call me Harry or HJ for brevity.
I'm an administrator here, but unless you're a vandal, or you deal with vandals, you're unlikely to encounter me in that capacity. At the minute (and it changes with my mood), I divide most of my time between dealing with vandals and spammers, and writing and reviewing. I also dabble in copy-editing—obviously I'm best with "British English", but I can cope with American English and other varieties. I tend to stick to biographies, but I make the odd exception for a particularly interesting article. Otherwise, I can often be found loitering around the Main Page—particularly the In the news section—and the Military History Wikiproject.
I've been here since March 2009. I started because I was enticed by the idea that I could edit, and I stick around because I want to help make the encyclopaedia, and the project, even better than it already is, and because Wikipedians are some of the most remarkable people I've ever come across. But during my tenure, I've been around the block a few times, so feel free to ask for help—if I can't help you, there's a good chance I'll know who can.
I've been through 2 requests for adminship. My first, in December 2009, failed miserably and rightly so. However, it was an eye-opener and I learned a lot about my strengths and weaknesses. Without that feedback and learning curve, I doubt I would have had the experience that allowed me to pass on my second attempt in April 2010. I strongly believe that admins are, and should be, just like any other editor. I simply have a little more access to perform tasks that, realistically, can't be given to everyone.
If I've made an admin action that is clearly wrong, mistaken or otherwise undesirable (for example, a clearly "bad" or mistaken block) then, assuming you're an admin, simply reverse it. I don't mind; I'm not territorial over my admin actions. Once you've done that, I'd appreciate it if you'd leave me a note, civilly explaining what you've done and why. If you're not an admin, then please leave a note on my talk page explaining the situation. I have been known to disappear rather abruptly, though, so if my contributions and logs show no activity for half an hour, there's a fair chance I may be elsewhere, in which case, still leave me a note, but, if the situation requires swift admin action, you may wish to request assistance at a more central location, like WP:AN and, by all means, link to this section in your post.
If the matter is simply a difference of opinions, merits more discussion or if I don't agree that the action was incorrect, then please be prepared to discuss it with me calmly and civilly. If we cannot agree, then we can seek further input at AN or another noticeboard.
If I made a regular edit that's not an admin action (ie not to a protected or MediaWiki page) that you disagree with, by all means revert or change it, but please be prepared to follow the bold, revert, discuss cycle.

The Admin's Barnstar
I don't always agree with every single thing you say, but I wanted to register my appreciation of the degree of hard work you do and the ethical nature of the (voluntary) work you do in helping administer this project in such a conscientious way. Please keep up the good work, and take this as a well-earned tip of the hat to you. John (talk) 02:40, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
The Real Life Barnstar
Hi Harry, you deserve one of these yourself for your role making the Manchester Girl Geeks Wikipedia Editing Day a success. Events like this are of great importance both to the community and to the UK chapter. Cheers, MartinPoulter (talk) 14:32, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
