Alberta highway shields
Hi there,
Have you been following the conversations at Talk:List of Alberta provincial highways#Copyrighted material and User talk:117Avenue#WP:NFLISTS and WP:NFCC? I am trying to explain to Hammersoft that the custom highways shields that used to be listed on List of Alberta provincial highways were useful in displaying the different types of highway shields in Alberta. However non-free policy usually prohibits their use on list articles. Your support in saying that this use is actually useful, WP:NFLISTS #4 and WP:NFCC #8, would be appreciated. 117Avenue (talk) 00:55, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
New Bullet needed for New York City Subway
Hi,
I saw that you created an A diamond bullet recently. Thanks for that!
We also need a 4 diamond for the {{NYCS Jerome}} template. Can you create that? Thanks! Acps110 (talk • contribs) 00:27, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
- Done. --Svgalbertian (talk) 03:26, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

Bookshelf images
Hi Svgalbertian -- thanks for your interest in spicing up the bookshelf images at Wikipedia.org, as they definitely need improvement.
We were looking for a repeatable symbol that clearly represented "size of the encyclopedia", so that we didn't have to include words such as "pages" or "articles", since then the logistics of providing translations would also need to be included in the multilingual design. My original effort -- uniformly sized books, like an encyclopedia set -- was difficult to interpret as "books" rather than "elongated ribbed rectangle" when repeated. So I put together a set of varied rectangles in a very basic image editor, with a few extra line segments to represent titles or labels. It was just meant as a sketch, to be replaced by someone more talented, but I suppose it's been a few years waiting...
I don't have the originals anymore, but they weren't high resolution anyway, although it does look like someone has reduced the dimensions of this image by about two thirds from my first upload.
In SVG, it should be easy to recreate the varied rectangles -- it certainly doesn't have to match the details of the current image. And if desired, perhaps with vector art you can create a more uniform "encyclopedia set" that reads well at small sizes. You'll probably also want to discuss the color with others -- the bright blue was arbitrary, so I don't know if something closer to the dark blue link color would be desirable, or something less saturated, or in more of a contrasting color...
Anyway, I look forward to seeing the results when you are finished! — Catherine\talk 19:05, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
