After two years of accumulated clutter, it was time to blank this page and start fresh:

"Kearny" in IPA

Hello! While I appreciate your intentions in 'fixing' that pronunciation, you have misunderstood the IPA. /ɹ/ (a lower-case R, rotated 180˚) is the symbol used for an alveolar approximant, the standard "R-sound" in English (though not the "-er" sounds in bird or butter: those are the R-colored vowels /ɝ/ and /ɚ/). /ɹ/ is actually a pretty rare sound, occurring phonemically in only a few languages other than English. Meanwhile, /r/ is the symbol used for the much more common alveolar trill, a sound you might recognize from Spanish, Italian, Arabic, etc. Cheers! — ˈzɪzɨvə (talk) 05:20, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for that clarification. The only reason that I attempted to make a change was because the name was displayed as "/ˈkɑɹni/" with the Firefox browser, which is just about useless. At least it displays well with the Safari browser. Trasel (talk) 15:35, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Survivalism references

Hi. I removed most of those references in survivalism again. Examples don't make good references. If you can find some news articles mentioning the rise of the practice in those countries, that would be much better. -- GraemeL (talk) 17:53, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I added one ref, from a recent article citing a blogger, as per your request. I will try to find some others. Trasel (talk) 02:58, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I added some more refs from recent newspaper articles, to support the "Survilvalism worldwide" section. Trasel (talk) 03:41, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Looks much better now. thanks for finding them. --GraemeL (talk) 14:05, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

POV edit

No, not a statement of fact at all, and I daresay the original IP edit as well as your revert happened out of an obvious POV motivation. I take your Clarification as an apology for falsely accusing me of making an incorrect edit. Everyme 17:09, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
