This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Poland. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Poland|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Poland. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.
This list is also part of the larger list of deletion debates related to Europe.

Article about a transport company tagged for notability for eleven months. Bringing here for consensus. Mccapra (talk) 22:13, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
- Note: This discussion has been included in the deletion sorting lists for the following topics: Computing, Transportation, and Poland. Mccapra (talk) 22:13, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
- Keep - I don't see any notability issue in the article. State-owned company running public transportation is pretty legit article subject. --Soman (talk) 23:23, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
- Comment: if notability can't be established, obvious redirect or merge target would be Silesian Interurbans -> WP:ATD. Nyamo Kurosawa (talk) 20:12, 19 September 2024 (UTC)
- Merge as suggested above. Notability right now is not apparent from the article, and the Polish one is no better. I did not find any sources beyond press releases and mentions in passing in regional media (usually related to local issues like road repairs etc.). --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:32, 24 September 2024 (UTC)
- Comment As nominator I agree with the merge proposal. Mccapra (talk) 07:13, 24 September 2024 (UTC)

- Merge I support the merge proposal. I scoured for sources and all I could find was this one that says this but it feels like a trivial mention.
Tramwaje Śląskie is one of the largest tram network operators in Poland. The company operates nearly 30 lines in 12 cities. The total length of tracks is over 340 km of single track (including less than 30 km in depots).TŚ belongs to the 12 cities of the Upper Silesian-Zagłębie Metropolis.

The result was soft delete. Based on minimal participation, this uncontroversial nomination is treated as an expired PROD (a.k.a. "soft deletion"). Editors can request the article's undeletion. asilvering (talk) 22:51, 24 September 2024 (UTC)

- Delete. No apparent notability from the article, pl entry is no better. GSCholar and GNews gave me only few passing mentions.

- Redirect to LGBT rights in Poland. Sampling other countries for "LGBT in [country]", they always seem to redirect to the respective country's "LGBT rights in [country]" article. The See also section can/will take care of the history aspect, if the article body doesn't. – sgeureka t•c 08:20, 17 September 2024 (UTC)
- Redirect. I prefer the redirect target of LGBT history in Poland, as it is closer to a Wikipedia:Broad-concept article and matches the Israel precedent. If sgeureka wants to provide the redirects they sampled, I am open to changing my mind, but it seems to me that the redirect targets are not consistent and depend on the what articles the country has. Either way, the target needs a redirect-for hatnote. I have added a link to the Rights article to the lead of the History one, and a For hatnote to the History article on the Rights one, so both choices are now okay as redirect targets. The result was keep. However, this does not preclude a merge or rename. Consensus is not going to develop to delete the material, therefore a relist is not needed. Star Mississippi 14:21, 28 September 2024 (UTC)
- Gąsawa massacre (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)
- (Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL)
The article only describes the motives for the massacre and nothing more, the course of the crime is also lacking, in addition, most things (sources) in the article have a trivial mention of the subject in one sentence, which is incompatible with WP:SIGCOV Polski Piast from Poland (talk) 16:24, 14 September 2024 (UTC)
- In addition, I could not find here this footnote Labuda, Gerard (1995). The death of Leszek the White (1227). Historical Annals. 61: 7-33. Gerard Labuda describing the views of Józef Uminski. If somewhere you Marek still has about this study then it's cool, but if not, well, we have problems. I hope that we will be able to keep the article after all. - Delete or Merge with Leszek the White There do not seem to be adequate sources for an article. It's already covered in Leszek the White#Assassination. Maybe only one or two sources refer to it as a massacre, since massacres usually result in more than one death. TFD (talk) 20:12, 14 September 2024 (UTC)
- There are adequate sources - six of them with one or two specifically dedicated to this event. Whether or not it should be under “massacre” or something else is a naming question, not a reason for deletion. Volunteer Marek 16:43, 17 September 2024 (UTC)
- Also probably a good idea to read the talk page first before !voting [2] or the relevant DYK discussion. Naming issue was discussed. More than one person was killed though most sources focus on the most important one - the Duke. Volunteer Marek 17:04, 17 September 2024 (UTC)
- Keep One would think that the assassination/murder of the ruler of Poland would be notable. YMMV I guess. There’s six reliable source in the article with one or two of them specifically dedicated to this event. This is also a very well known event in Polish historiography. The text in Leszek the White article is different (and frankly with worse sourcing). This article was featured at DYK and no one had a problem with either notability or any other issues then. Now it’s getting nominated for deletion by some brand new account with just a few edits who for some unknown reason calls me out by name. Yup. Volunteer Marek 16:43, 17 September 2024 (UTC)

- Keep and possibly rename. The term (in Polish) seems to have been coined in Semkowicz, W. "Zbrodnia gąsawska." Ateneum 43 (1886): 328-348., who wrote a dedicated article about it in pl:Ateneum (czasopismo), so it is a reliable, if dated, piece of SIGCOV. Since then this has been mentioned here or there, although I don't think it got much more coverage under that name, but the assassination/death of Leszek Biały did, under more generic names. See for example another, a bit more modern, article about this: Umiński, Józef. "Śmierć Leszka Białego." Nasza Przeszłość 2 (1947): 3-36 and more modern, but I think not digitized, Labuda, Gerard. "Śmierć Leszka Białego (1227)." Roczniki Historyczne 61 (1995): 7-36. Here's an article from a modern Polish history magazine (Histmag). So this is a notable event, but the name might be better as Assassination of Leszek the White or Death of Leszek the White. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:41, 24 September 2024 (UTC)
