Fearless: Year of Shadow, or simply Fearless, is an American campaign launched on April 9, 2024 by Sega, being announced in a video on the official Sonic the Hedgehog YouTube channel.^[1] The campaign is a celebration of fictional character Shadow the Hedgehog over the course of 2024.^[2]^[3] Created by Takashi Iizuka, Shadow first appeared in the 2001 game Sonic Adventure 2. He is an anthropomorphic black hedgehog created by Professor Gerald Robotnik, grandfather of series' antagonist Doctor Eggman. After his best friend Maria Robotnik is murdered, Shadow seeks revenge, but later vows to keep her promise of protecting the world. After his first appearance, he became a fan-favorite character and starred in his own eponymous game in 2005.

The campaign honors Shadow with different media based on the character, an example being Sonic X Shadow Generations.^[4]
