Delinking Dates

[edit]

The purpose of this bot is to delink date fields in articles that are not calendar articles, such as days, months, years, decades, centuries, seasons and days of the week. This is to implement WP:DATELINK and WP:YEARLINK.

Avoid Delinking Dates

[edit]

{{Date}} can be used to avoid future delinking of dates. For example,

  • {{date|2012|link}} → 2012
  • {{date|2010s|link}} → 2010s
  • {{date|21st century|link}} → 21st century
  • {{date|Friday|link}} → Friday
  • {{date|June|link}} → June (l, ldmy or lmdy also work)
  • {{date|June 2012|link}} → June 2012 (l, ldmy or lmdy also work)
  • {{date|29 June|link}} → 29 June (l or ldmy also work)
  • {{date|June 29|link}} → June 29 (lmdy also works)
  • {{date|29 June 2012|link}} → 29 June 2012
  • {{date|June 29, 2012|link}} → June 29, 2012
  • {{date|29 June 2012|ldmy}} → 29 June 2012 (l also works)
  • {{date|June 29, 2012|lmdy}} → June 29, 2012

This should only be used in the rare cases when date linking is required despite the general prohibition of it in the Manual of Style. Thanks Hmains (talk) 22:37, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
