Reverse: 1999 (Chinese: 重返未来：1999; pinyin: Chóngfǎn Wèilái: Yījiǔjiǔjiǔ; lit. 'Return to the Future: 1999') is a turn-based tactical role-playing video game developed by Bluepoch.[1] The game has been available in Mainland China since May 31, 2023.[2] The game is notable for having an all English speaking cast instead of the usual Japanese or Chinese speaking cast like most Anime inspired Gacha games.
Plot
The story takes place in a world in which humans and arcanists coexist. The player's role is the Timekeeper, Vertin, a member of St. Pavlov Foundation. Timekeeper is the only person who remains intact in the "Storm" that reverses the flow of time and ends a whole era. The player is required to thwart the plot of Manus Vindictae and find the truth about 1999.
Development
The game's first beta test began on January 7, 2022, and the second began on June 10, 2022.[3] On March 23, 2023, Reverse: 1999 was granted an ISBN, which means a permission for its official release in mainland China. The game started a third beta test on April 14[4] before officially released in China on May 31, 2023.
