The leaves have small leaves 7-11 and 5 thin; small leaves are sessile, thin paper, pale green after drying, and the leaf spine is gray-green, thin brown, ovate or ovate-elliptic, 0.5-3 cm long and 0.4-1.5 wide Cm, the central slice is 5 cm long, 2.5 cm wide, the top is short to acuminate, the base is symmetrical on both sides, the leaf edge has fine cracked teeth, the oil spots are not obvious, and the lateral veins are faintly visible on the back of the leaf. The inflorescence is terminal, the rachis is short and shaggy; the perianth lobes are 5-8; the perianth lobes of the male flower are lanceolate, 2-3 times as long as its width, 1.2-1.5 mm long; stamens 5-6; female flowers There are often 4 carpels, occasionally 3 and rare 2 carpels. The fruit is purple-red, with a single petal diameter of 4-5 mm, with sparse oil spots and slightly convex; the shape of the seeds is similar to that of Zanthoxylum bungeanum but smaller. Flowering period from April to May, fruit period from July to August. Seen in arid areas in mountains at an altitude of 2500-2700 meters. The leaflets of this species are also very small, but the tips of the leaflets are pointed, and the edge of the leaf has small but obvious jagged teeth. The lateral and branch veins are clearly visible on the leaf surface after drying. The leaves are pale green after drying, and the texture is thin. There is an oil spot in the leaf margin cracks, which can be distinguished from its related species Zanthoxylum piasezkii. [2][3][7]
