Ambiorix Burgos (born April 19, 1984 Nagua, Dominican Republic) is a righthanded pitcher for the Kansas City Royals of Major League Baseball. In 2005 he made his major league debut appearing in 59 games. Despite only pitching in 60 innings as a reliever he managed to be 10th in the league for wild pitches. In 2005 Burgos had the highest average fastball velocity of American League relievers, at 96.5 mph, and posted an earned run average of 3.90. Burgos started the 2006 season as the Royals' closer, with Mike MacDougal on the disabled list.

He has appeared in 45 games thus far in 2006 with a 5.14 ERA. Games through August.
