The route was one six that passed to [[Capital Citybus]] on 23 November 1991 as part of the breakup of [[London Forest]]. A small batch of new [[Northern Counties Motor and Engineering Company|Northern Counties]] bodied [[Leyland Olympian]]s quickly became the mainstay of route 212.<ref name=LondonBusRoutes/> Route 212 was included in the July 1998 sale of Capital Citybus to [[First London]].
On 4 September 1982, the route was extended from [[Chingford railway station|Chingford Station]] to Yardley Lane. On 19 November 1988, the route was withdrawn between Yardley Lane and Chingford Station; replaced by route 215.


In February 2000 was converted to single deck operation was converted to double deck operation.
On 23 November 1991, the route was one of six that was transferred to Capital Citybus as part of the break up of London Forest. In July 1998, the route was included in the sale of [[Capital Citybus]] to [[First London]].


Upon being re-tendered, the route passed to [[HCT Group#CT Plus|CT Plus]] on 6 March 2010. London Buses route 212 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Chingford and St James Street stations, it is operated by Tower Transit.

History

Route 212 commenced operating on 31 January 1981 between Chingford station and Walthamstow garage. Originally operated by Daimler Fleetlines, in September 1981 these were replaced with new Leyland Titans. On 4 September 1982, it was extended to Yardley Lane, this extension was withdrawn on 19 November 1988 replaced by route 215.[1]

Upon being re-tendered, the route passed to CT Plus on 6 March 2010. When next tendered, the route passed to Tower Transit's Lea Interchange garage on 7 March 2015.[2][3]
