Is Sandler's character really "mentally retarded"? He just seems very sheltered and has a stutter to me. -- BrandonR 00:32, May 27, 2005 (UTC)
- The character is actually autistic. --Lordshmeckie 23:12, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
Disambiguation
Shouldn't there be a page defining what a "waterboy" is? TripOnMyShip (talk) 13:05, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
Fixed. TripOnMyShip (talk) 13:05, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
Conflict
"The movie was extremely profitable, earning over $160 million in the United States alone and made Sandler a successful actor with Waterboy becoming his second $100 million film in a year, along with The Wedding Singer."
But Adam Sandler's Filmography shows that The Wedding Singer only made 80 million. TripOnMyShip (talk) 13:06, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
Origin of Character
I removed the "original research" tag from the sentence saying the character's voice bears a strong resemblance to the Excited Southerner character. It would be original research to say that Sandler based the character on Excited Southerner and Canteen Boy with no source to quote. It doesn't quite rise to the level of original research to say that there is a resemblance between the two voices. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Leenunes (talk • contribs) 23:19, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
"socially inept but intelligent"
Please!!! Looks like Wikipedia is intentionally not telling the facts and the truth, but some falsified over-eager political correctness? In the movie he has of course NOT 100% unimpaired mental faculties. That's PC nonsense. He is not stupid, but he has more problems than just some missing social skills! A lot of people living alone (having not even a mom at home) and are unable to socialize, but this does not mean, there are all like Waterboy! Think about it!
Lawsuit
It could be included that Harold Lloyd's estate sued this movie for stealing the plot of "The Freshman." Lloyd himelf was sued by someone else for stealing to create his movie. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Barnsward (talk • contribs) 16:53, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
