This user is extremely busy right now and may not respond quickly to messages.
This is mainly from working lots of overtime and seeing friends. Don't worry, this user hasn't forgotten about his Wiki-friends and will be back soon to edit!

Please note I prefer an IM way of talking on talk pages, as in responses are made to the other's talk page (in other words, I respond to yours). I have close to 12 billion pages on my watchlist, and finding your talk page in the sea of information might be a little tough. Please bear with me.

lead layout

Hello again,

Thank you for the helpful links. I must still be missing something because I cannot find anything that describes how to create a lead layout. My attempts always include the title and lead layoout sections in the outline. Most of the Wiki advice seems to be centered on how to write lead layout, not on how to mechanically create one.

Thanks again for your time and help

Actually, something did come out of it all... the section on WP:USER saying it's discouraged. And it doesn't hurt the project, but then again neither do games in userspace, or cabals and the like. Anyway, I'll not delete, salt, and block [you], because wikipedia isn't communism (yet! :D). You're welcome x2. And sorry for the poorly thought-out reply... Quick Question about Using Wikipedia

I see that you responded to my comment on here and I'm curious about it. Is the individual that 'left' and 'came back' the same person? Sorry, I'm new to this but it feels like people are playing 'characters' and not just editing an encyclopedia. Bigjake (talk) 03:48, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RFA Thanks!

Hey there... Just wanted to thank you for participating in my recent RFA... I admit, I am a little curious, what even was it that gave you a good impression? I gather you are like me, somewhat of a talk page stalker (feel free to help me expand this humour page, I'll probably work on it more as soon as I get all this thank-spam out). anyhow, feel free to also check out my in-depth RFA analysis and see the templated thank spam I let for you below. cheers, xenocidic (talk) 13:24, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pulling a Lazarus

Hey, regarding your late article Items in Super Mario Bros. -- why don't you get a friendly admin to resurrect the deleted article and have it sent to you? I've had that done with three articles that are now back on Wikipedia to stay. One of them actually wound up winning a DYK notice, too! If you want help in getting the article into Wiki-worthy shape, I'll be glad to assist. A luta continua! Ecoleetage (talk) 18:22, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You don't need to start from scratch. It is still there, just out of sight and out of reach. Get an admin like DGG or Xenocidic to forward the article to you or save it on your User Talk page; several admins are happy to dig up deleted articles and send them to their original writers. This way, it will be preserved and you can update and wikify it at your leisure. Thanks! Ecoleetage (talk) 18:27, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Good deal. Never let a worthy article die without a fight. :) Ecoleetage (talk) 18:29, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your RfA

Thanks for your note. I was happy to support. Some free advice-- continue to rotate through article building and the admin related areas. Look at the policies once in a while to make sure of your understanding of them. Be reluctant to block/report to AIV until the user is still going after a full complement of recent warnings. Be reluctant to delete/tag for CSD unless there is clearly no hope of salvage. Keep in mind alternatives-- improvement, sourcing, redirection, AFD, prod. Many first time article creators create what at first looks like CSD material, but a search for sources sometimes turns up enough info to make the article worth keeping. As you continue to edit, your understanding will become clearer to the community, and eventually the community will be willing to support. Hope that helps. Dlohcierekim 18:39, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Commenting on inadequately warned AIV reports is what persuaded me to support. I should have stated that in my support rationale. Dlohcierekim 18:51, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Thank you

Hi there Tinkleheimer, thanks for taking the time to try and address my concerns, but unfortunately I think you only furthered them. I feel that building the community is a great and strongly encourage it, but the only reason community building should be done is to benefit the project (ie meet ups, IRC) and quite frankly at this day and age sign books do just the opposite and have lead to a community all right, but in no way one that helps to build a encyclopedia. As for the whole Jimbo argument I must say that just because Jimbo says does not mean it is right, or that I have to agree with it. I would also like to point out that Jimbo made that comment over 2 years ago, when sign books were not causing the issues they are now and people were not gamming Wikipedia and turning into a encyclopedia. Also, just because Jimbo said it is alright does not mean you have to do it. As for your team leader analogy, I guess I do not get it. I as a administrator gets blamed for the mistakes of my so called “employees”? How do we get the blunt of criticism any more than an active editor does? I hope you take this RfA as a learning curve and will be back even stronger than ever saying, “I told you so” Tiptoety talk 22:50, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I got started as a summer intern for Fig, back when he was doing Nights at WDBR. About six weeks or so into things, somebody either quit or got fired - depending on which version of the story you believe - and I was offered their on-air shift. The rest is, as they say, history.
Reach out to somebody at WDBR about an internship or maybe even a part-time on-air shift. Dave Daniels is the Program Director. Or, I could probably get you a show on WQNA out at CACC, as one of my best friends in the industry is the Program Director there. --InDeBiz1 (talk) 06:01, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Can you help?

I see you were listed as a participant in the League of Copy-Editors so it seems likely you can ... The thing is the Military history wikiproject urgently needs prose pros to help with our best articles. Milhist covers a broad range of interesting and varied subjects from film to biography, battles to weaponry, and Roman emperors to twentieth-century dictators. In Milhist, A-Class has become the last port of call before FAC and we are looking for people to help identify prose and MoS issues at A-Class A-Class Reviews and help fix them prior to featured article candidacy. We also have a copy-editing section in our Logistics Dept and that can always use experienced copy-editors. For most of our articles, you don't need to be a specialist in the subject matter, just good with words.

If you think you can help, please do! Thanks for your time, --ROGER DAVIES talk 04:19, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks to everyone who participated in my RfA, regardless of their !vote. I have withdrawn the nomination as a failure at 19 supports, 45 opposes, and 9 neutral statements.

As has been written and sung, you can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you get what you need — and what I need is to go back to working on our shared project. Not everyone has to be an admin; there is a role for each of us. After reflection, I feel I don't have the temperament to secure community consensus as an admin at any point, and I will not be applying again in the future — and hey, that's all right, 'cause I stay true to the philosophy that adminship is no big deal: I tried, I failed, and now I'll return to doing what I've always done. I have an extremely strong belief in the consensus process, and the consensus was clear. I will be devoting my energies to volunteering at MedCab and working up a complete series of articles on the short stories of Ernest Hemingway, among lord knows what else. Thanks again to everyone who spared the time to weigh in on this one. It was made in better faith than it probably seemed.

Re: "trolling", "rude and critical", etc.

Most of what I want to say is already on that incidents page. I was not attacking Schuym1 personally; I was merely questioning his motives, and especially his actions, first with the AfD tag, then his words toward me. I have debated other editors on topics (and articles) in the past, and I don't mind giving in or backing down when someone produces a convincing argument, no matter what their age, experience or position. ("I would give in to the editor's office boy, if the office boy happened to be right." - Ayn Rand)

Calling me a "jerk", dropping an F-bomb, then going behind my back/over my head to the incidents board, does little if anything to convince me he even has a point, much less is justified in placing an AfD tag on an article whose topic he admits he knows nothing about. What I see is a typical teenaged attitude of "If I don't know it, it's not important." I deal with that 'tude every week in my present job (I teach high school, among other things), and if a student knows a topic (or can explain it) better than I can, I make a point of bringing them up, having them state their case to the class, and praising them for it. Hardly the work of a "troll", I'd say. (At worst, I was filibustering him, or "giving him enough rope to hang himself" - which I'd say he did. Standard discussion strategy.) I do appreciate your qualifying your words, on the incidents page, as I said there. "This looks to me" is one thing; "this is" is another, and I'd say we both understand the difference. You didn't make an accusation, you expressed an opinion, and I'm OK with that. Zephyrad (talk) 07:41, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Archives

We made a new page just so we can archive these newsletters. Go to Wikipedia:WikiProject Nickelodeon/Newsletter. I felt that was a bit lengthy, so I made a shortcut just for it. It's WP:NICK/NEWS. I created that so, if our delivery boy fails, you can still access the newsletter. Template:Multicol-break

Editor's note on the hiatus

The newsletter went on hiatus for around 3 months because I took a wikibreak to get away from all the drama on Wikipedia. Let me tell you, though: I'm back, and I feel better than ever. So don't expect me to put the newsletter on hiatus for a long while.

WikiLove Templates

Something on your second archive is causing it to be on Category:WikiLove templates. Please remove it.--Andrzejestrować ZP Pbjornovich (talk) (contributions) (email) 12:05, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There's no Wikilove in that. :(. My archive is fully protected, so I am unable to edit it as of right now. I will figure it out in a little bit. <3 Tinkleheimer TALK!! 18:14, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
