== Chess ELO based on games or matches? ==

Is the Chess ELO rating system based on games or matches? So when Masters play a series of games against each other, does the result of each game impact their ELO, or just the result of the complete match (essentially treating the entire series as a single game)? All World Cup penalties ever, but excluding shootouts

Hi all. Per my count, a total of 900 games have been played at all FIFA World Cups ever. Is there a site in which somebody listed all penalty kicks ever taken, both scored and missed? I'm not looking for penalty shootouts, only spot kicks taken in regular and extra time, respectively. Splićanin (talk) 01:09, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If anyone has, fbref would have. They are part of the "Sports Reference" family of websites, which are some of the best free-to-access sports stats websites out there. --Jayron32 12:40, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
As always, thank you Jayron. Splićanin (talk) 21:09, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sports stats produced in a click

First of all, I'm sorry to post back-to-back questions. I did contemplate asking Jayron32 only, but figured this exact question may interest others too. Watching the big 4 North American sports, I can't help but admire the obscure yet impressive stats which appear on screen in a record time. Say, Lightning produce a memorable comeback victory having been down two goals 3:47 before the end because of a reckless major penalty to the opposition during which they scored three unanswered goals in regulation. I'm absolutely certain that the ticker would say "First team to overcome a 2-goal deficit in last 3:47". What does the statistician have to do in order to produce it? The Sports Reference sites mentioned above have a feature called an "event finder" (with complete results only available to subscribers) which can make such searches of their extensive database very easy. The Elias Sports Bureau, which provides official statistics for Major League Baseball, is also well known for providing such tidbits of information to journalists in very short order (you will often see them quoted in reports on games in which an unusual event has just taken place), through searches of their proprietary database, which contrary to Sports Reference, is not available to the public. Creations of articles about Scooby-Doo's relatives

You know what would be great? What would be great is if someone could create articles about Scooby-Dum, Scooby-Dee, Yabba-Doo and Deputy Dusty, complete with images. Who can do that type of thing?2603:7000:8100:F444:D5C6:CF06:97F9:66A7 (talk) 15:12, 9 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Anyone can do that, provided that those subjects have received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. Shantavira|feed me 15:33, 9 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello IP. Along with what Shantavira has stated Wikipedia's WP:NOTABILITY guidelines means that it is unlikely that any of those characters would merit a stand alone article. They could be mentioned in the List of Scooby-Doo characters article. You can also check the Scooby-Doo wiki to see what they have. MarnetteD|Talk 17:49, 9 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Frank Howson

One Frank Howson is mentioned in the article Trelawney of the 'Wells' as composing incidental music for its 1898 opening in New York. Is anything more known about this person, as it could be the Frank A. Howson in the article Howson family. Doug butler (talk) 20:58, 9 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The Internet Broadway Data Base (IBDB), not a reliable source for Wikipedia purposes, has some information on him, including works he composed. He is unrelated to the Frank Howson who has a Wikipedia article, AFAIK, though they work in a similar industry. Given the similarities of the names and careers, I am getting a lot of interference at Google making it hard to extricate the older composer from the younger filmmaker. --Jayron32 13:03, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks JR. The IBDB references to Frank A. Howson as musical director 1872–1908 plausibly relate to Francis Alfred Giralomo Howson (28 March 1841 – 28 June 1926) and answers my question about Trelawney of the "Wells". Reference to a stage career would have to be another Frank or Frank A. Howson. Our article on the Howson family notes the lack of association with the colorful filmmaker.
