H2O: Just Add Water: Difference between revisions

H2O: Just Add Water is an Australian television program for children. It currently airs at 4:30 every Friday afternoon on Network 10 in Australia.

Template:Spoiler Emma, Cleo and Rikki are sixteen year old girls growing up on the sun-drenched beaches of the Gold Coast. Emma's confident and athletic, Cleo is slightly insecure and akward. Rikki is 'different' - the new girl - aloof and smart.

Because of Rikki, the girls find themselves stranded at sea on day, flaoting towards the mysterious Mako Island. The three urban girls finds themselves exploring the eerie jungle covored island before becoming trapped in an ancient cavern under a volcano. Discovering a underwater channel, they decide to swim to safety. As they enter the pool, the light from a full moon illuminates the water, creating a mysterious glow.

Emma, Cleo and Rikki get off the island as fast as they can and back to "nornal" life. One by one however the girls discover life is never going to be normal again.

It's Emma who discovers it first when she goes for a morning training swim alone - contact with water makes her grow a fish tail! The others find exactly the same ting; Cleo - in the bath, Rikki - hit by a garden sprinkler. It seems if water touches them, they have seconds to dry off before long, elegant tails appear! They're mermaids!

But the surprises aren't over. As the girls experiment they find they've got extraordinary, magical powers over H2o. Emma can freeze water. Cleo can turn a drop into a bucketful and mould it into any shape. And Rikki can boil water with a gesture.

Everyday situation have now turned tricky. The morning shower - the swimming sports - rainstorms, all create profound problems. However together with their loyal friend Lewis, the girls resolve to resume their normal teenage lives. But it's hard to be normal when you're a part time mermaid!

Lewis has been Cleo's friend since they were five. Being kind of a nerd, Lewis is ignored by most people. He finds out the girls secret after Cleo is trowed into the pool and he is the only one who can help her out. When Dr. Denman came to town, Lewis was tempted by her offer to work with her. Yet when he found out she had lied against him, he declined her offer. When Cleo became a siren under the effect of the full moon, Lewis fell under her spell and the two even shared a kiss. It is obvious Lewis has feelings for Cleo, yet he does not reveal them to her.

• Zane

Zane is the local bad boy, who thinks he can get away with anything because his dad is rich. He acts like an arrogant jerk, but has been seen to have a softer side. He desperatly wants to impress his father, who is just as arrogant. Zane is an excellent swimmer. He became trapped on a sinking boat, but was rescued by mermaid Emma. But, before passing out Zane saw a tail and becomes determined to find the "sea monster". During the course of the series Zane and Rikki develop feelings towards each other.

• Miss Chatam

Miss Chatam is a mysterious old woman who Cleo meets while working at the Marine Park. She hints to Cleo that she knows the girls secret and warns them about the effects of the full moon. Later her boat is declared unseaworthy and Emma invites her to stay at her place. But Miss Chatam sneaks out at night and sails of with her boat. When she get's a heart attack, Lewis takes her to the hospital. Before going to a resident, she reveals to the girls that she once was a mermaid too but that "the burden became to great, so she had to give it up", hinting that their is a way to give up their powers.

• Byron

Byron is a swimmer and the love interest of Emma, although she often denies this, even against herself. While under the effects of the full moon, Emma tried to seduce Byron, which almost let to him finding out her secret. When Emma was training Byron for a swimming competetion, she became the super dragon trainer. Byron fired her but they made it up when he won the comp.

Cleo made a diary all about being a mermaid, and her sister, Kim, started getting suspicious. Kim and Elliot (Emma's brother) were all about exposing them on stage at the Miss Sea Side Pageant in which Cleo had entered. Cleo then told her sister that the diary was an English assignment.

Besides water, the full moon also has a strange effects on the girls. It caused their behaviour to change and not for the better. The effect were off when the moon has fallen. Emma was the first to fall under the effects of the full moon her father's birthday party which she had organised. The moon caused her to go to the beach for a swim. Ricki, Cleo and Lewis found her and tried to change her back (using Ricki's magic power to make water boil) but failed. Furthermore Emma had turned into a wild carefree mermaid, the exact opposite of her normally organized self. She went on to tell all people exactly what she thought of them regardless if this was offending them in any way.

By the next full moon, the girls had prepared themselves and planned on watching DVD the whole night. Yet Cleo saw the moon's reflection and touched water. She did not turn into a mermaid, but instead got a beautiful singing voice (Normally Cleo's singing was horrible). Her singing caused all the young men near her to fall in love with her. Emma and Rikki did their best to contain her, for Cleo enjoyed all the attention. When all were asleep, Cleo phoned the radio station and song through the phone. The next morning dozens of young men stood for Cleo's house begging to see her. Cleo decided to hold a concert at the Juice Bar, but when she started singing the moon fell and she got her own voice back.

Each of the girls have their own magic powers:

• Ricki: Has the ability to boil water
• Cleo: Has the ability to move and mould water
• Emma: Has the ability to freeze water.
