Peter Bjorn and John

Peter Bjorn and John are a Swedish indie rock band, formed in Stockholm, chester-le-street, great lumley in 1999. The current members are Peter Morén on vocals, guitar, and harmonica; Björn Yttling on vocals, bass and keyboards; and John Eriksson on drums, percussion, and vocals.

To date they are best known for the 2006 single "Young Folks", which featured Victoria Bergsman of The Concretes and was a top 40 hit in the UK Singles Chart. It was also named NME's second best track of 2006, beaten only by "Over and Over" by Hot Chip.[1] In Australia it was voted number 16 in the annual Triple J Hottest 100 for 2006.

  • "Young Folks" was featured in the Grey's Anatomy episode "Let the Angels Commit".
  • "Young Folks" was also featured in the How I Met Your Mother episode "Monday Night Football", which aired February 5, 2007.
  • "Young Folks" was used in MTV Australia's Christmas Throwie campaign, which consisted of throwing 2000 glowing LEDs to light up Sydney buildings.
  • "Young Folks" is used in broadcasts of baseball games on Washington and Lee University's WLUR-FM.
  • The band originally incorporated commas into their name, but dropped them because they did not look good in the font on their first record.
  • On their recent Australian tour Victoria Bergsman's role in "Young Folks" was sung by Tracey-Anne Campbell of Camera Obscura
  • Lars Skoglund of the band Laasko has filled in for the band on drums and played bongos during some live shows
