In general, PIDS research is envisioned to help government planners and policy-makers in the executive and legislative branches of government. After undergoing extensive consultations within the Institute as well as with its clients and affiliates, the PIDS Policy Research Agenda, 2005-2009 was finalized. The Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) is a government-owned and controlled corporation of the Philippine National Government. It was established in September 1977 to conduct research to help government planners. Its primary client is the National Economic and Development Authority. PIDS was established by Presidential Decree No. 1201.[4]
