Tips for finding a source yourself

• Send a request to the author(s) of research papers for a copy of their paper by email
• Consider signing up for The Wikipedia Library, a place for active Wikipedia editors to gain access to reliable sources
• Check on Google Books, or your local library or national library may be able to obtain it through an interlibrary loan or subscription
• Search Google Scholar for archived copies of journals in institutional repositories
• Check whether your alma mater's library offers electronic document delivery services for alumni, if applicable

Note that sites like LibGen and Sci-Hub offer direct, free access to a very large range of publications, but there are legal questions around their use and neither the Wikimedia Foundation nor the Wikipedia community endorses them.

Making a request

@Mcrsftdog: Given the cemetery's topicality, perhaps contact University of Toronto library to see who their point person is for Internet Archive? I'm sure that they'd add it to the digitization list. Cplakidas, well, I second the comment that that's just too many pages. If you're based in Vienna, perhaps you have a chance to access the volume in the National Library (ZDB record). If, for whatever reason, that doesn't work for you, I can either (a) check first if there is a table of contents (and, if so, send it to you) or (b) send you the requested page range (ie, pp. 200-250) right away. I'm writing an article about Worms 1995 video game from scratch in the Russian Wikipedia (it is going to replace the existing stub and become featured). @Bruce1ee: thanks anyway, I got #3 from Pajz. @Pajz: Oh my goodness, are you telling me that there are different entire sets of publications in each bundle in different institutions' subscriptions to EBSCO? They bounce publications around between collections like Netflix versus HBO versus Starz, or Hulu versus Hulu Plus versus Live TV? That stinks. So does WP:LIBRARY have no EGM and only abstracts of Forbes? [edit: I found full Forbes] Or is it possible that they're duplicated in other collections within the multiverse of Wikipedia Library? I mean I don't even know how to search where to search within WP:LIBRARY. If not, this just makes us cite the third party master search engines like Internet Archive or fansites of magazine scans. Oh well, they can't take those away. I just care that I can make a permanent and free-of-charge accessible citation. Smuckola, don't know, or perhaps I misunderstand what you're saying. It's certainly true is that EBSCO offers different products with different publications and that, as a result of that, different institutions have access to different materials. I do not think, however, that if two institutions subscribe to EBSCO Business Source Complete they have access to different sets of publications. The institutions I am affiliated with do subscribe to EBSCO Business Source Complete, EBSCO Academic Search Complete, and a few other bundles, and I noticed in one of the local library catalogues that it says we have access to Electronic Gaming Monthly via EBSCO, while in fact, it doesn't look like we do. Given that these local catalogue entries are typically imported from the likes of EBSCO when the database is integrated into the local catalogue, and that the subsequent updating often isn't that reliable, my guess was simply that the journal used to be available in EBSCO but no longer is. That does happen sometimes. I take it from Umimmak's comment that they've run into a similar issue. — Pajz (talk) 17:15, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I am struggling to find a reference for a basic statement about the addition of polynomials. It's for this article: Polynomials. While it's trivial to find references supporting the claim that the set of polynomials is closed under the operation of addition, some editors (including myself) would like to see if we could construct a statement that can be referenced without the word "closed". The current wording is:

a sum of polynomials is always another polynomial.

Proposed alternative wording includes:

the addition of polynomials is an operation that takes any two polynomials and produce always another polynomial

The suggestion has been made that this source is worth reviewing:

For Guitar Solos 3.

According to this Google Book snippet, page 53 of Ear, Volume 15 has a piece on Guitar Solos 3 (and Guitar Solos 2). The snippet text reads, "Guitar Solos 2 Caroline Records (out of print), Guitar Solos 3 Rift Records. Traditional guitar playing is most definitely not the focus of these two LPs. Compiled by Fred Frith, whose own album of guitar improvisations began the Guitar series, these ..." I think this is from the April 1990 issue of Ear Magazine (linked above), but I don't know the page number(s). Any help would be appreciated.

#1 and #7 is to be used in Actors of the Comédie-Française. #2 is to check for bibliography on Polish Woman. #3 and #5 is to be used in Actors of the Comédie-Française, La Boudeuse, and The Embarrassing Proposal. #4 and #6 is to be used in La Boudeuse. While getting the most of the request would not be diffucult, I'm aware that Marianne Roland Michel's catalogue raisonné would be a harder case (see OCLC for both the Italian and French editions). For Clywedog reservoir There has been a recent debate about the purpose of this reservoir. Many years ago before retirement I was professionally part of the team revising and maintaining the operating rules for the reservoir, all of which track back to the original Act. • The reference should talking about Superstitions in Muslim societies/ communities at global level.
• The reference should preferably specifically mention word 'superstition or superstitious'. (The little problem here is in most Muslim countries and communities blasphemy is severely punished, so sources seem using some other optional wording, but some Wikipedia users are are asking for literal presence of word superstition to maintain content-for obvious reasons!)

In the article Oachira Temple, the topynomy section is unsourced. I searched in google books for "Omkarachira", "Oymanchira", and "Uvachanchira", and they all appear in the Kamli-Kyouk Phyu volume of the Indian Encylopedia. No snippets are available, and it doesn't identify the page number. Possibly the entry for Kayamkulam or Krishnapuram or Kollam? It would be great if we could source that section of the article (which should probably be moved to Oachira, but that's another issue).

Hello. I'm looking for any sources from 1980+ onwards for my draft on Sharron Moran. Specifically I'm looking for two things: 1) When did she retire from the LPGA? I see sources that state she was a former pro in an 1982 and 1987 source from Newspapers.com, but I've seen sources that state she has played on a LPGA tour event during these years. Maybe she retired in the 1980s then came back? It's also possible she switched professional tours. 2) When did she start teaching golf? Like above, I see sources that suggest she was teaching golf in the 1980s. These two sources also suggest that she's still teaching as of the 2010s. The Wochenbeilage has a portrait of the artist Ludwig Nick. Any other portrait, either photograph or drawing, would of course be welcome also.

Additionally: my work on this article has brought me valuable sources and databases, but I am still unable to confirm Nick's date and place of death. Allgemeines Künstlerlexikon says he died 8 August 1936 in Weimar, but a newspaper from the region already on 16 July 1936 says he died in Jena.
