Shortcuts

This page was originally for listing cut-and-paste moves which could not be repaired due to a then-extant technical limitation. The limitation has since been removed, but this page is still available if you find a cut-and-paste move, and are not able to repair it yourself (there is a procedure for doing it, but only administrators can do it, and it is a bit tricky!).

The procedure

Place a {{histmerge|NAME OF PAGE THE ARTICLE WAS CUT FROM}} template at the new location of the article which has been moved through cut and pasting, i.e. on the article where the pasting was done.
If the issue is clear-cut (straight up cut-and-paste move to a better title), having this speedy delete tag on the page should be enough. In more complex cases (explained at Wikipedia:How to fix cut-and-paste moves), please leave a description of the problem under the "Repair requests" section.
An administrator will look over the pages and perform whatever tasks are necessary.
Once this is done, the admin will post the result here.

Spot Fish to Spot croaker. Uncertain about this, so posting here instead of tagging. Cut-and paste move. But I have since rolled back Spot croaker to a 2009 version to eliminate a number of copyvios, so no content from Spot Fish should be merged; should the history be merged with that of the article or left parallel? (Spot Fish should become a redirect; if the history is retained I'll request revdeletion there too). My brain is spinning. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 23:23, 2 March 2015 (UTC)
- Not done WP:Parallel histories. Spot Fish was started at 17:41, 27 February 2015‎ by User:Cheatspace as a cut-and-paste of Spot croaker, but at 20:30, 27 February 2015‎ User:Dewritech reverted Spot croaker to text, thus changing it into a copy-and-paste, and both pages have edit histories since.
