Welcome!

Hello, Donmike10, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. For every category you create, you should specify parent categories to which it belongs. You do this by listing the parents near the bottom of the page, each enclosed in double brackets like so:

Contact me if you have questions about this. Best regards, --Stepheng3 (talk) 05:44, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Copyrighted images

Thanks for your uploads, they look great! However, please note that Wikipedia's policy is that we can only use "non-free" (copyrighted) images on articles, not on user pages, to minimize the use of such images. If you want to include a link to the images you have uploaded, you can make that happen by putting a colon before the filename, like this: :File:Foo.jpg. (ESkog)(Talk) 19:58, 10 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cool. Thanks - I think I got it right. I added the : before each file. Hopefully that's correctDonmike10 (talk) 21:16, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Portrait of a Hitman.jpg

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Portrait of a Hitman.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Help

Do you have any interest in helping me add images, plot, etc. to the film articles I create?--TheMovieBuff (talk) 22:35, 29 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sure - I'll check over the ones you have created and work on them a bit

Thanks! Some user nominated some of the articles I recently created for deletion. I am pretty sure they are notable but they are very short and might get deleted if not extended. Do you think you can help extend them? You can check my contributions to see which ones I am talking about.--TheMovieBuff (talk) 22:02, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand the need for people to do that at all. We are here to further education and knowledge, so getting rid of articles that may be useful makes no sense. I will look for the ones getting deleted and expand them.Donmike10 (talk) 22:08, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You've got to expand your own articles instead of just creating new ones. Every one of yours that I'm going through does not even have its own necessary basic information. Work on them with much more detail instead of starting new projects up.Donmike10 (talk) 22:58, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah I have realized I cant just get away with one liners. I will work on them before they are deleted hopefully. The only reason why I do just make one liners is usually I am only able to edit on Saturdays and Sundays due to a long work day and I always rush to get them done. Thanks for all your help.--TheMovieBuff (talk) 23:01, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Just one more thing. How do I get images of movie posters. I have realized that the articles look more legit and are far more likely to be kept if they have movie posters.--TheMovieBuff (talk) 23:02, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No worries. I know how it goes. First - find the poster and copy it to your hard drive. I generally just google them or take them from allmovie. On the left side on wikipedia, click on upload file and browse til you find the file. Click on any type of poster. Then I copy and paste from another existing file to get what you're supposed to put in there and make changes like which website you took it from and which movie it's going to. It's really easy.Donmike10 (talk) 23:08, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Can you check if I did it right http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Siamisunsetposter.jpg--TheMovieBuff (talk) 23:22, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

looks good to me

I got a bunch of notices on my talk page telling me they are going to delete my images. I must have done something wrong.--TheMovieBuff (talk) 00:07, 5 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The Gus Vant Sant Template

Short films should not have their own section in templates.--TheMovieBuff (talk) 22:43, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Are you joking? Of course they should. Why in the world wouldn't they? Check out Atom Egoyan, David Lynch, Roman Polanski? Short films are FILMS and are essential to a director's work. I'd figure you'd know that.Donmike10 (talk) 22:47, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No need to go the User:Collectonian route with the rudeness. You are proving my point. You are right shorts films are films therefore they should not have their own section. If so why dont comedys, dramas, action films have their own sections.--TheMovieBuff (talk) 22:51, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Lol - I'm sorry if it came off as rude. I edit in my office while I work on other deals as a distraction and can get in heated work mode. The reason that short films have their own sections while features (and genres don't) is because they stand as separate works from the features. It's the same as having a section for TV movies. Often they should be there, just not next to the features. They also deserve their own sections. I'm not going to argue with you any more. I do this to help. This nitpicking isn't helping anyone.Donmike10 (talk) 22:56, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you are not going to argue anymore than I am just going to put it back to how it was because I completely disagree with you.--TheMovieBuff (talk) 22:59, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

do what you want. i'm over it. when i see director's resumes, i don't think i've ever seen one that had features and shorts in the same column. that's just how it is.Donmike10 (talk) 23:04, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Im sorry we disagree on this. I am hoping we can still work together in the future.--TheMovieBuff (talk) 23:10, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Of course. No big thing. Donmike10 (talk) 23:13, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Squirt.JPG

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Squirt.JPG. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. After Midnight 0001 17:57, 13 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for uploading File:Empty_Aquafina_bottle.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Melesse (talk) 05:09, 25 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm troubled by your joining in on making fun off this newbie. It comes very close to a personal attack. As I noted there, while changing otheruses4 to about is a strange use of time, it's actually an improvement to the article in question.

You don't have e-mail posted, so I can't make this a private note, but feel free to delete it if you wish. Jim - Jameslwoodward (talkcontribs) 23:40, 9 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I never meant anything more than a harmless joke. I'm sorry if anyone took offense. I was just curious initially as to the reasoning behind the switch. That's all. Donmike10 (talk) 06:01, 10 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
