Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited German Afternoons, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Jim Rooney. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

The pipe trick

[edit]

Hey, great work on the Jerry Lee Lewis discography, thanks... it's appreciated.

One thing tho, links to albums should not show their parenthesized disambiguators. That is, the link to the article She Even Woke Me Up To Say Goodbye (Jerry Lee Lewis album) should only show She Even Woke Me Up To Say Goodbye to the reader since "(Jerry Lee Lewis album)" is not part of the actual title.

An easy way to do is with the pipe trick. See Help:Pipe trick for details, but essentially, if you stick a "|" character (the vertical line, called the "pipe") at the end of the link, then any part of the title enclosed in parenthesis is not shown. Therefore both of these:

 • She Even Woke Me Up To Say Goodbye (Jerry Lee Lewis album)
 • She Even Woke Me Up To Say Goodbye

will end up with the link being shown as She Even Woke Me Up To Say Goodbye (notice the pipe character at the end of the first example).

Don't overly worry about this, though, the main thing is adding the material which is the important work you are doing... just a tip to make it even better. Herostratus (talk) 00:56, 1 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Jerry Lee Lewis albums

[edit]

I appreciate you dedication but your articles are pretty bad. You don't add links incorrectly, you don't put in any sources, and you don't categorize the articles, among other things. You should read the guidelines and ask for help. Many of the articles don't maintain a neutral point of view, either. Thanks. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 11:01, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a search with the contents of She Even Woke Me Up To Say Goodbye, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: She Even Woke Me Up to Say Goodbye (album). It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. CorenSearchBot (talk) 01:15, 5 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

 • Do this: 'Hag, not this: Hag, when bolding the album in the intro.
 • Do this: Billboard, not this: Billboard, as you end up linking to an article on the advertising signs instead of the music trade magazine.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, I Ain't Go Nothin' but Time. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – I Ain't Got Nothin' but Time. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at I Ain't Got Nothin' but Time – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. AC325 (talk) 17:56, 7 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on No, Not Now (co-written with Curley Williams) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for four days or more and it is not presently under discussion at Categories for discussion, or at disambiguation categories.

Is there a reason Other songs recorded by Hank Williams can't be merged with List of songs written by Hank Williams or Hank Williams discography? Also, regarding Rockin' Chair Money: again (as others and myself have I implored you several times on this Talk page), please include the full citation of otherwise vague references like "Escott, Colin 2004" in every article you create. Cheers, --Animalparty! (talk) 20:51, 15 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The new articles could be improved throughout time anyway. As somebody who works on HW articles myself I really appreciate your recent work. We can improve the referencing later and maybe even expand the content. To create an article for everything can be optimistically seen as an improvement for nothing at all. Aside from that I got in a sandbox a Hank Williams Singles template that I did not paste before for the lack of those articles. I will do sometime in a near future. Good stuff and keep up the good work!--GDuwenTell me! 18:36, 16 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

George Jones/Hank Williams

[edit]

I don't understand why you don't care about the quality of the articles you create or learn from what other people do to them afterwards. No sources, improper linking, why don't you ask for help?? --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 21:13, 20 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Tender Years

[edit]

I had to undo your edits to Tender Years because you made some improper links. I've tried and tried to teach you how to do it and you obviously refuse to learn. In the "Tender Years" article you added a link to the song when you NEVER link to the article itself because it pointless to do so. There is no need to link something to itself. You also linked Family Bible when you meant to link Family Bible (song). Please click on those two links and see how they do not go to the same page. Read up at Help:Piped link to learn how to pipe links properly. Because you are having a lot of trouble with Wiki-formatting, I strongly encourage that you ask for help. PLEASE ASK FOR HELP. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 16:35, 21 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you still made some mistakes with linking like Mercury and White Lightning, so I reverted the page again to give you a chance to fix these errors. I just think this may be the best way for you to learn since you won't ask for help. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 16:44, 21 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I'll get right on that.

Great. Thanks. When you learn these things, then I won't have to spend so much time fixing them. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 16:58, 21 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Did I Ever Tell You

[edit]
 • There is no need to link the title of the song as you did to Did I Ever Tell You since it links to the same page. Only add links when it directs you to another article of interest.
 • The navigation box, George Jones, provides the links you keep adding as a Discography section. The navbox is intended just for that purpose, so you don't have to add the same links to every article you write.

How else can I help you? --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 01:15, 22 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Achin', Breakin' Heart

[edit]

You keep creating new articles without any effort to improve them. If you look at the changes I made to Achin', Breakin' Heart, you will see some of the things you should be doing as well (see here). You still fail to add any sources which is unfortunate. Please read Wikipedia:Verifiability. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 14:27, 22 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Still not any improvement here. You don't seem to be making any effort to learn. Let me know what I can do to help. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 23:31, 22 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

If you are going to add links to articles, you should make sure the link to the article you intend. You intended to link to the Billboard (magazine) article, but only made a link to Billboard. If you click on that link, you will see that it directs you to the article about billboards, not the music magazine. If you're going to add links to articles like that, please make sure you do so correctly. So you've been told this multiple times but still continue to make the same mistakes, I recommend not adding any links to articles at all. Better yet, what you should do is ASK FOR HELP on that issue and others such as adding citations to articles. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 03:09, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Can somebody fix the George Jones discography chart. I really made a mess of that. Last time I touch that thing.

Hi, I removed the link for "Love Bug" that you added to Take Me (George Jones song) because it is WRONG. Why is so hard for you to figure out how to do this correctly?. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 05:04, 24 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Citations needed

[edit]

Hi, I've redirected some of the song articles you've recently created because there are no cited sources to support any claims of notability. Why don't you ask for help on how to make these articles better? --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 18:24, 24 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The quotes are cited within the text, ever one. Someone else might eventually do that work. Why redirect the articles when they are all factually accurate? I'm trying give people the opportunity to appreciate the artistry of this great singer and you're constantly undermining it with your obsession with citations that are there for anyone who can actually read to see. Why don't YOU put in the citations? I'm not interested in donkey work.

How is anyone supposed to believe you that this is all factually accurate unless you cite the source from which they came. This is how credibility is achieved. You are undermining the credibility of Wikipedia by refusing to do the "donkey work". --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 18:47, 24 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
But I'm glad you finally took the time to respond. Why do you like to add links that go to the wrong pages? That's kind of silly donkey work you're doing there by failing to direct readers to the correct page. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 18:50, 24 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Here's an example: in Open Pit Mine, you claim that the song "remains one of the most chilling songs the singer ever recorded". You have no quote, no reference to who said it. The way it's written, it makes it sound as if it only your opinion. You cannot offer statements like that without a source properly cited. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 19:02, 24 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Here's another example: in I Can't Get There from Here, which you just created, you wrote "Frazier's words seemed to echo the weariness that such a life inevitably conjures". That again sounds like something you made up yourself and there is no quote or citation to attribute that comment to. Those are things you should not be including, or when you do, to provide a proper reference. Thank you. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 20:47, 24 July 2015 (UTC

Many of these statements you think are quotations are actually my observations based on common sense. "Frazier's words seemed to echo the weariness that such a life inevitably conjures" is a sound observation because I use the word seemed. It amazes me that you're inclined to dismiss such informative articles based on your misinterpretation of what is a quotation and what is not.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, A Good Year for the Roses. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Good Year for the Roses. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Good Year for the Roses – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Sigh

[edit]

In response to this message you posted on my talk page.[1] I don't recall ever mentioning sources to you, I don't recall ever mentioning quotations to you, and I certainly did not tell you to "clean up your mess" as you accused me of on my talk page. What I was trying to ask was that you check your edit before saving to make sure the wikilinks you added are directing to the correct article. For example, if you're linking to Billboard magazine, the correct link is Billboard (magazine), but you were only linking billboard, which directs to an article about billboards. Other links such as linking to an album when you're refering to a song, etc.

So if you're going to leave messages on my talk page telling me what I did or said, please make sure I actually did or said what you say I did. Now, can you please point out the edit where I was supposed to have told you to "clean up your mess." I would be very interested in seeing where this came from. Cmr08 (talk) 02:13, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about all this, please just ignore my comments because I think I may have misunderstood the message you left on my talk page. Another editor had made that comment about you on my talk page. Was your message intended for the editor who left the previous message? If so, then please just reply on that editors talk page. When you leave a message on my talk page, I'm obviously going to think it's directed at me since it's my talk page. Replying on my page caused a lot of confusion.
Please just ignore the parts of my message where I was defending myself against accusation since I don't think that's what you intended, but please take note of the concern about incorrect wikilinks, that still applies. Cmr08 (talk) 02:49, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi, thanks for your recent contributions! I came to ask if you could possibly revisit some of them, to make more precise links. For example, at Rockin' Chair Daddy, you added an ambiguous link to Jimmie Rodgers within

Like every record that Rose produced for MGM that was not by Hank Williams, the Jimmie Rodgers-influenced "Rockin' Chair Daddy" did little business. No recording of Williams singing the song has ever surfaced.

I expect it is easy for you to identify which "Jimmie Rodgers" you meant, though it is not for me.

You could see the remaining unfixed ambiguous links you have recently created in this report about editors, where you have the "honor" of appearing second (with 20 items, possibly lower after some fixes done by me): you have created more ambiguous links than almost anyone else recently. And there is a convenient "FIX" link next to each of those, which allows you to use a "DabSolver" tool to easily select which more precise term is what you meant, easily done if you know yourself and if the corresponding disambiguation page contains the option. (Sometimes/often the disambiguation page does not, and then "fixing" involves either de-linking or adding the missing item to the dab page. For example, I recently added Richard Powell (actor born 1896) redlink to Richard Powell disambiguation page, to fix a dablink created by a different editor.) Could you possibly please take a look at this and see if you could fix at least some of these? Also, I see there is some discussion at #Sigh section above, and I hope my arriving with this comment is not an unwelcome complication. Either way, keep up the good work! cheers, --doncram 18:55, 4 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. Yikes, i only now went and read some of that discussion. To be clear, I appreciate your corrections to other articles and your other contributions, and I only want to suggest use of this cool tool to identify and easily fix dablinks, in case you are not aware of it. Try it, you might like it, and if not, no problem. --doncram 19:00, 4 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You are doing readers a disservice by adding links in articles that point to the wrong topic. For example, in Greatest Hits (Epic album), you added a link for Golden Ring when you obviously want to direct readers to go to Golden Ring (song). I'm not sure why you refuse to figure this simply way of linking out. You say you want to do this to inform readers but taking them to an article about "a ring of cities northeast of Moscow" instead of the song called "Golden Ring" is not helpful at all. If you are having a hard time figuring out how to do this, you should ask for help. If you just don't want to do the "donkey work", don't add links at all because no link is better than the wrong link. Thanks. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 18:01, 13 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Citations

[edit]

You have been told repeatedly by myself and others that all claims must be verifiable and that you need to properly cite your sources. Referring to the source in the prose is not sufficient. Using Sfn to cite a source is not sufficient; you need to combine it with one of the citation templates Cite book, Cite journal, Cite web, etc. (Read the Sfn documentation and Help:Shortened footnotes.) — JJMC89(T·C) 22:21, 26 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Survey Invite

[edit]

I'm working on a study of political motivations and how they effect editing. I'd like to ask you to take a survey. The survey should take 5 minutes. Your survey responses will be kept private. Our project is documented at https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Research:Wikipedia_%2B_Politics.

Survey Link: http://uchicago.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_80J3UDCpLnKyWTH?Q_DL=5jRFD5Mzx9sHZLT_80J3UDCpLnKyWTH_MLRP_23I95VQJhjBYK0d&Q_CHL=gl

I am asking you to participate in this study because you are a frequent editor of pages on Wikipedia that are of political interest. We would like to learn about your experiences in dealing with editors of different political orientations.

Sincere thanks for your help! Porteclefs (talk) 15:35, 25 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
