Xenia Tchoumitcheva (Ксения Чумичёва, born 5 August 1987)[3] is a Russian-Swiss model, actress, DJ, blogger and business woman.[4]

Early years

Tchoumicheva was born in Magnitogorsk, Russia. When she was 6 years old her family emigrated to Lugano, Switzerland.[5][6]

She graduated in 2010 from the University in Science of Economics with a Bachelor Degree in economics.[5][7][8] She speaks five languages, Italian, Russian, German, French and English.[5][7]

Tchoumitcheva has interned at several financial institutions such as Merrill Lynch, The London Hedge Fund Duet Group and JP Morgan Chase.[5] In 2011, at the end of her internship at JPMorgan Chase, the executives offered her a full-time job but she turned them down to build her own business and to DJ.[1][9]

Career

Model

Tchoumitcheva began modeling at the age of 12, and gained notoriety in her hometown. When she entered the national "Miss Switzerland" pageant in 2006,[10] she was judged as both 1st runner-up and Miss Photogenic.[1][4] But it stirred up a national controversy and for the first time in history, the Miss Switzerland organization took the unprecedented step of offering Tchoumitcheva an appearance contract similar to that of the winner.[5] After the contest she was considered the "most eligible single woman in Switzerland".[11] In May 2009 she has been elected as the Best Bikini Body, according to a survey by the magazine Schweizer Illustrierte.[12] In 2012 she was featured with a photoshoot and personal interview in the Spanish GQ magazine.[13]

In December 2012, the Swiss edition of Maxim magazine graced her with the cover and its annual title of "Most Beautiful Woman of the Year".[14][15][16]

Tchoumitcheva has worked with several modeling agencies including Option Model Agency (Zurich), Oxygen Models, Tess Management, and Elite Model Management (Barcelona). She was with Impact Model Manegement from 2007 - 2010, and started with Wump Model Agency before being signed with Elite Model Management (Miami) in 2010 until 2013.[2]

Actress

Tchoumitcheva began to work in commercials and music videos in 2007 (e.g. "Candino-Festina").[17][18] She starred in the short movie Les Enfants de la Honte of the French film maker Alain Margot,[19] which appeared on the NIFF film festival.[20] She was in the music video with Italian-Swiss singer Paolo Meneguzzi in May 2010.[21] In June 2011 she was supporting role in the short film Lines.[22][23]

After she graduated from the university in 2010, she traveled to New York and took acting classes at the New York Film Academy.[5]

In January 2011, Tchoumitcheva finished shooting a role as a rockstar in the French cinema production Bob et Les Sex Pistaches starring the French actor Jules Sitruk.[24] She also appeared in the film Without Men with Eva Longoria and Christian Slater in 2011.[5]

TV host

Among several hosting engagements, she presented the Miss Switzerland 2011 pageant live on the three national channels on 24 September 2011.[25]

In March 2012 Tchoumicheva started to host her own TV show about successful Italian businesses called "L'Italia che funziona", on Italian channels Rete 4 and Italia1.[26][27][28] She also hosted Miss Ukraine 2012 in Russian, alongside the Russian comedians "Prozhektorperiskhilton" (ПрожекторПерисхилтон).[29][30][31]

In April 2013, Tchoumitcheva was the official host and catwalk model of the annual Energy Fashion Night with Irina Shayk.[32][33]

Since 2013, Tchoumitcheva works as a journalist for the Swiss economic magazine Bilan and has her own online show called La Recette de Mon Succès.[34]

Spokesmodel

Tchoumitcheva has modeled for different brands including Visilab Sunglasses,[5] Audi,[1] Burger King[1][35] and Casino Lugano.[7]

In 2012 she was the official face of the Spanish airline AirEuropa,[36][37] Revlon cosmetics and Nikon cameras.[38]

Writer

As of 2012, Tchoumitcheva writes a monthly column for the cultural magazine Schweizer Monats and the luxury US magazine Haute Living.[5] She also launched her own online business and luxury blog called "Chic Overdose" in the spring of 2013.[39]

DJ

After turning down her internship at JPMorgan Chase in 2011, Tchoumitcheva decided to pursue a career in DJing.[1] Deciding to self manage herself, she gets bookings from her website for all of the world but she likes to DJ in Switzerland where she says the bookings are easier. So far the biggest crowd she has played for was in Zurich for around 600,000 people.[5]

Date of birth

Tchoumitcheva's date of birth has widely been reported as August 5, 1987. In late 2010, her website began reporting her date of birth as August 5, 1989, making her two years younger. The 1989 year of birth continues to be widely reported.[5] Reporters for Schweizer Fernsehen, a Swiss public broadcasting organisation, interviewed representatives of the Miss Switzerland pageant, who noted that she had provided proper identification. They also reported that had she been born in 1989, she would have been ineligible for the competition. On December 6, 2010, the network reported a statement from Tchoumitcheva confirming the 1987 date of birth.[40]
