Rick Nowels

Richard Wright Nowels Jr. (born March 16, 1960 in Palo Alto, California)[1] is a Grammy / Ivor Novello award-winning songwriter/producer who has worked with many of the most vibrant artists in contemporary music. He is a multi-instrumentalist (guitar, keyboards, bass) who incorporates contemporary sounds and rhythms within classic songwriting.

Beginning with his number one worldwide hit single, “Heaven Is a Place on Earth” by Belinda Carlisle in 1987, Rick has since co-written over 60 top 20 singles. His songs have appeared on over 200 million albums. Rick has written with, or had his songs recorded by the following artists: Madonna, Dido, Cee-Lo Green, Nelly Furtado, Lykke Li, Jason Mraz, Lana Del Rey, Marina and the Diamonds, New Radicals, Sia, Chase & Status, Colbie Caillat, Tiesto, Santigold, Jewel, John Legend/Andre 3000, Santana, NSYNC, Sinéad O'Connor, All Saints, Craig David, Texas, Stevie Nicks, Keith Urban, Anita Baker, Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens), k. d. lang, Tupac Shakur, Cher, Ronan Keating.

Career

He started writing songs when he was 13. He did a lot of performing throughout his teens and into his twenties. Then, Stevie Nicks heard a few of his songs and they ended up writing together.[2]
