DYK for Jarrett Robertson
On 15 August 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Jarrett Robertson, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Major General Jarrett Robertson earned the nickname "Desert Fox" by having similar skills in battle to German field marshal Erwin Rommel, who held the same nickname? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Jarrett Robertson. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Jarrett Robertson), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
Question from Mia at Fulwood (17:17, 16 August 2024)
Hello. i have read an article in Wikipedia called the "Gwydyr Forest". I have more information about the Gwydyr and also details of the book where I found that information. Can I now edit that article to include my information and also add the details of the book i read to those books already listed in the article? I opened my account yesterday and so a beginner, although I have donated to Wikipedia in the past. Thanks --Mia at Fulwood (talk) 17:17, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Mia at Fulwood Absolutely! Wikipedia's entire premise is that anyone can contribute to its articles. Feel free to edit that article and others you come across. Our getting started page may also be of interest to you, and I've added more helpful links to your talk page. Happy editing! Bsoyka (t • c • g) 17:32, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
Question from Matt5832 (10:11, 20 August 2024)
Hello, I'm new-ish here. I've got an interest in international political economy and I've been trying to flesh out / improve the page on British non-fiction author Nicholas Shaxson. My edits keep on getting undone despite my efforts to understand / respond. It seems to me that the other party is unecessarily blocking content. I can just keep on undoing but perhaps there's a better way forward here? Thanks, Matt

- @Matt5832: Hey there! First of all, please don't
just keep on undoing
— that's edit warring, and it's generally bad. Instead, start a discussion with the user on the article's talk page. I recommend asking for their view on the situation, then you can do a little research and respond with policy-backed arguments. (A good starting point might be WP:ABOUTSELF.) Let me know if you have further questions! Bsoyka (t • c • g) 13:23, 20 August 2024 (UTC)- That's helpful, thanks. I've put something in the article talk page and asked some questions. I'll look forward to the reply. It's been frustrating so far... Thanks again Matt5832 (talk) 13:53, 20 August 2024 (UTC)
I'm trying to reveal the candidates 2024
Apparently nobody else will do it so im going to and besides why dont you just help me? Instead of make it even more difficult i've recently been diagnosed with a stroke and I am recovering and if you wish for my health to decline further please assist me in making this 2603:6000:C003:FAF3:5D30:5D09:623E:E5D2 (talk) 21:08, 20 August 2024 (UTC)
- As has been mentioned to you already, there doesn't appear to be community consensus to include all the candidates in the infobox. Please discuss this change on the article's talk page rather than edit warring. As for your personal health, I advise you to take a break from Wikipedia if your condition is that stressful. There really is no excuse for poor judgement here, nor are comments like "Whoever reverts it again I hope you die in a fire" going to be tolerated at all. Reevaluate what you're doing here and take a step back. Bsoyka (t • c • g) 21:18, 20 August 2024 (UTC)
