This is a timeline of the Red Sea crisis, which began on 19 November 2023.
Attacks on shipping in the Red Sea and Indian Ocean 2023–2024
This timeline largely covers the maritime engagements of the Iranian-backed[1] Houthi militants in support of the Hamas-led coalition in the 2023 Israel–Hamas war, and of the Palestinian cause more generally.[2] Please note that this list cannot be exhaustive, and that some details shall only emerge in retrospect.

Attack occurred 210 nautical miles (390 km) off Dwarka, India, in the Arabian Sea, with the Iranian coast 500 nautical miles (930 km) and the 860 nautical miles (1,590 km) from the Yemini coast. First attack in which the U.S. accuses Iran of direct involvement alongside the Houthi. The Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard responded and took up extensive patrolling. |
