The Telengit language is a separate Turkic language of the Telengites living in the Altai Republic of the Russian Federation. Sometimes this language is defined as one of the four dialects that make up the South Altai language[1].
Linguistic characteristics
The Telengit language differs from the literary form of the Altai language in phonetics and morphology.
Instead of the initial [ш], [ч] is used. For example, tel. "chirdek", "Altay: shirdek", "English: felt carpet". Also, in the roots of words, [h] is used instead of [w] (tel. "tepchi", alt. "tepshi", Rus. "bowl")
