Questions

  1. What are your primary contributions to Wikipedia? Are there any about which you are particularly pleased? Why?
Primarily, I have been involved in countervandalism, removing any vandalism I find, reporting vandals (WP:RVAN) and unacceptable user names (WP:UAA), reviewing new pages (WP:CSD), patrolling recent changes carefully and making improvements to various existing articles (especially ones related to holidays and subjects of special interest to me). That's what I'm particularly pleased with, but there's more to me than just that. I'm a good writer and meticulous in finding reliable sources to guarantee the accuracy of a diverse variety of articles. I created the pages Gourmand (fragrance) and Gourmand (disambiguation), just a small sample of my capabilities. I did some work on V.C. Andrews articles and will do more. I am active in welcoming new users (WP:WC), with the intent of eventually participating in WP:Adopt-a-user once I have more experience. I also am a member of the Department of Fun (WP:DF) and the Kindness Campaign (WP:KC). I like knowing that, nearly every day, I did something to improve Wikipedia, whether it was adding a reliable source to an article (or removing spam), creating a new article, stopping a vandal, or just making a new Wikipedian feel welcomed here. I'm definitely a WikiGryphon. At this point, I'm looking for someone to guide me in the process of going from a good editor with potential to a great one of great value to the community.
  2. Have you been in editing disputes or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future? If you have never been in an editing dispute, explain how you would respond to one.
Back when I first joined Wikipedia a few years ago, I did almost get into a 3RR situation and needed a reminder of the rules, which I obeyed, without needing to be blocked. I also encountered this one bully...well, a few bullies...who left cruel messages on my talk page, saying never to come back here because my work was not appreciated![1] I figured why even bother if that's the way people feel? Eventually, I came out of that dark mood and realised it was up to ME to prove that my work here was appreciated. Once I decided to resume editing, I did so as a much more mature and confident editor than before, determined not to repeat mistakes I made as a newbie. I don't anticipate becoming involved in any disputes, but if it happens, I'll be prepared to respond appropriately and fairly, with dignity and respect, adapting as the situation requires.
  3. What do you want to get out of this editor review? Are you thinking of running for adminship? Would you like feedback on a specific area of your editing? Or would you just like a general review of your edits?
Yes I do want to be an administrator eventually but one has to walk before they can dance. So, now that I can walk, this is how I will learn to dance, step by step, one at a time. But even if I did not want to become an admin, I would still want this feedback in order to be the best possible and most productive editor. I would like advice and direction, if possible, in order to edit in a more organised manner, accomplishing more work, working with other editors, not just running around in circles by myself wondering what to do next. Any constructive advice will be appreciated, both general and specific. Thank you, in advance.

Reviews

Hello there, This lousy T-shirt. I'm very pleased to review you. From the contents of your contributions to Wikipedia I see that on top of your numerous reversions and rollbacks for vandalism, you are very much dedicated to creating a positive environment especially for new users. I hope your work on the Welcoming Committee and (WP:WC) will later span to participating on WP:Adopt-a-user. I know as a new user Wikipedia was quite daunting to me, but your enthusiasm and wide knowledge base would be perfect as a mentor to newbies.

As you noted in your own answer to the first question you have become a much more "mature and confident editor" in particular when dealing with assisting other users through talk pages. Looking over your statistics, 37.45% of your contributions come from user talk pages. When I take in account that you avidly patrol for vandalism, it is good to see that you give potential vandals warnings on their user pages. You have shown great attentiveness by tracking any responses made to your posts especially when reporting users for administrators. I think this shows a willingness and initiative to learn from existing admins to improve the quality of your judgement. If I were to make any suggestions I would propose citing more Wikipedia guidelines in your edits especially for new users. This can typically be the most daunting and misleading parts of Wikipedia that an experienced editor like yourself could assist with.

Again you are a valuable asset to Wikipedia nurturing new users and patrolling Wikipedia to make it a more fun and friendly place! C3chan2014 (talk) 05:51, 14 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
