Synopsis
An All-American Military family and an overbearing Jewish family attend their gay daughters wedding and wild reception. The party begins as “wedding guests” arrive and mingle at the bar area where appetizers and cocktails are served. Family members also mingle and greet patrons and soon are escorted into the “church”. Pat Miass a quirky goddess-of-the-universe Minister performs the "almost holy union" for the two young lovers Joni Gottlieb a Jewish sports enthusiast and Gina Spaulding a sentimental daughter of a rigid Military upbringing. After the atypical ceremony, Dinner is served as family members give toasts and speeches. There is Rychard who provides plenty of camp as Joni’s Best Man and wedding planner, Maureen the Emcee of the reception who bitterly pines for her lost love, Gina. Family members including General Jack S. Spaulding a stodgy, retired Marine who is not wholly comfortable with his daughter’s choice and Gina's mother Margaret who is certain her daughter is just going thru a phase. Feuding Jewish ex-spouses, Larry and Ida Gottlieb embarrass their daughter Joni with their endless squabbling. The show is rounded out by and eclectic and fun cast of characters that provide plenty of laughs for everyone. After dinner, wedding cake and champagne the reception begins, along with the real fun. Guests are invited to participate in a not-so-traditional bouquet toss, learn to line dance, dance the Hora and lots of surprises. The three-ring circus commences as everyone participates in a sing-a-long finale. The creators of this show have really touched at the heart of the heavily debated topic of gay marriage, yet (as with any family wedding) the bottom line is that it really is all about love.
