:If we look at the greek root of the word, it makes sense. Regardless, we look past reliable sources overwhelmingly using this term, and it’s not controversial at all when taken in context. Animals are often euthanized for reasons that have nothing to do with their health or well-being. It’s simply a euphemism for being put down as humanely as possible.
