== Biography ==
José Irigoyen was born in the eighteenth century, but the exact date he was born is unknown. The same can be said of where he was born. The first thing we know about him is that he was appointed governor of [[Texas]] in 1798. However, he never got to hold the office of governor of that place.
 
In 1796, Manuel Muñoz began to get sick, so he could no longer hold the office of governor. On August 5, 1797, [[Pedro de Nava]] gave to [[Manuel Muñoz (Governor of Spanish Texas)|Manuel Muñoz]] instructions he should take to deliver Bexar files to the new governor when he arrived from [[Spain]]. José Irigoyen was appointed governor of [[Texas]] in 1798. However, he not arrived in the region. Later, in August 1799 after the death of Muñoz, Nava, who was still awaiting the arrival of Irigoyen, named to [[Juan Bautista Elguézabal]] as acting governor while waiting for the official governor arrived; Elguezabal had the government to Texas to 1805, when he died.
