- "But Dáin Ironfoot, his cousin, who came from the Iron Hills to his aid and was also his rightful heir, became then King Dáin II, and the Kingdom under the Mountain was restored, even as Gandalf had desired. Dáin proved a great and wise king, and the Dwarves prospered and grew strong again in his day."
- —Appendix A, Annals of the Kings and Rulers: "Durin's Folk"
Recruit King Dáin II Ironfoot, King under the Mountain. He ruled in Erebor after Thorin Oakenshield's death. Before being the King, he was Lord of the Iron Hills.
He is the Ring Hero of Erebor but like Elrond he does not wield it. If he gets the Ring, he will pass it on to his descendant, Durin VII.
Abilities[]
Level 1: Burst of Rage - When attacking an enemy unit or hero, Dain grants +100% damage to nearby allied units and makes them fearless for 15 seconds. This effect can only be triggered every 25 seconds. (Passive ability)
Level 3: Charge Command - Dain places a temporary banner next to the target enemy unit. Allied units and heroes move faster the closer they are to the banner.
- Allies within the banner's range (400-300 units) gain +20% speed
- Closer (300-200 units) they gain an additional +15% speed
- Finally, when they're almost at the banner (less than 200 units) they gain an additional +15% speed
Level 6: Mount/Dismount - While a burst of rage is active, Dain can mount his boar for 30 seconds. While mounted, he triggers a new Burst of Rage with every attack against enemy units or heroes without needing to recharge.
Level 10: Royal Battlewagons - Dain summons five upgraded Battlewagons for a short time: one for every Dwarven realm, one with banners and one with a beer keg.
Ring Mechanics[]
- "They say also that the Seven Fathers of the Dwarves return to live again in their own kin and to bear once more their ancient names: of whom Durin was the most renowned in after ages, father of that kindred most friendly to the Elves, whose mansions were at Khazad-dûm."
- —The Silmarillion, "Of Aulë and Yavanna"
King Dain deals with the One Ring very differently form Lord Dain Ironfoot. Over the years, he has become careful and cautious; he is wise enough to not immediately give in to the temptation. Instead, then new Ring hero of Erebor will not be Durin I, but his last reincarnation, Durin VII. When Dain collects the One Ring, Durin will be summoned right next to him, the One Ring on his finger.
Upgrades[]
King Dain can be given the following upgrades:
Mithril Coat - Requires some veterans to be sent into a Dwarven Forge. Dwarven heroes will then have the ability to purchase the Mithril Mail upgrade. The Mithril Mail gives Dwarven heroes extreme resistance to all damage. Changes King Dain's armorset to edainwarriorheroarmorupgrade. Cost: 500
