Sunto
Summary
The fundamental problem of celestial mechanics concernes the motion of bodies under mutual attraction. In the classical scheme the solution is obtained adjoing to Laplace’s equation, fixing the gravitational field outwardly the bodies, the fundamental law of dynamics. In the first scheme of the theory of general relativity (1916), the gravitional field gives the spacetime geometry, ad to the equations governing this, the geodetic law (generalizing inertia-law) is adjonted. In the last relativistic scheme (1938–1949) one utilises a strange mathematical fact, without analogy in the classical scheme: from the only field-equations, (non linear) one can obtain the motion of the singularities, and, consequently, the motion of the representend bodies.

Pastori, Boll. Un. Mat. Italiana (3) XI (1956) pag. 72).
