Abstract

One hundred years ago P. L. Chebyshev investigated equidistant grids on curved surfaces withE=G=1,F=cosα for the first time. In part A of this paper we report about subsequent investigations, in particular about rhombic grids (E=G) formed by curves with constant geodesic curvature. Part B contains miscellaneous topics on geodesic-rhombic grids, and in part C the biographies of Chebyshev, Darboux, Voss, Finsterwalder and Liebmann are given.
