The Biddeford Baby Blanket is a beginner level blanket that is fun to knit and the world's greatest stash busting pattern! Use leftover yarn in 6 colors plus white or gray for the background stripes between the main colors to knit this cozy and cute blanket. If you can knit and purl this blanket will be very easy for you. I had lots of "I Love This Yarn" Worsted Weight leftover yarn from several projects. I created this pattern to use them up. In addition, the blanket is reminiscent of the popular Hudson Bay blankets, as well as Pottery Barn blankets. The pattern is written for 5 sizes, from stroller size to baby, small, medium and large. Worsted Weight yarn is recommended with size US8 needles to reach a gauge of 18 stitches = 4", or 4.5 stitches to the inch. Acrylic, Cotton and Washable Wool all work well. How much yarn should you buy? Using worsted weight yarn and assuming a gauge of 4.5 stitches to the inch: (estimates are approximate and are for TOTAL yardage) Stroller: 600 yards for 22 x 28 Baby: 800 yards for 28 x 36 Small: 1200 yards for 38 x 42 Medium: 1700 yards for 48 x 60 Large: 2200 yards 60 x 80 Parents love this colorful baby blanket suitable for both boys and girls and can be knit in a variety of different colors!
