Biography[]
Buggy Swires is a gnome and the only member of the Ankh-Morpork City Watch Airborne Section. He was Introduced in Jingo attached to the Chitterling Street station but there is a possibility that he is the gnome names Swires in The Light Fantastic. Buggy possesses the hard-nosed, bellicose personality typical of his species and height, proving able to shout down uncooperative witnesses despite being only six inches tall and agressively take on anyone of any size who stands in his way. He has demonstrated an ability to tame various species of bird (most recently a buzzard named Morag, acquired from the Nac Mac Feegle pictsies for a crate of whisky). Being small enough to fit on the back of a bird has made him an excellent field agent, used for delivering crucial supplies like coffee to Maladict, to intercepting messenger pigeons from the Ankh-Morpork Times, to flying surveillance missions as the Watch's eye in the sky to keep tabs on the activities of Lieutenant Blouse's Regiment. He flew a sparrow hawk for traffic duties. He enjoys flying; everything looks small when he's on aerial surveillance.
