DIE: SPLIT THE PARTY is released in comic shops. It’ll be in book shops next week.
You can buy it there, or purchase it digitally.
Hope you like it.
The next arc should start in May.
And DIE 6 is out.
This issue kicks off the second arc, SPLIT THE PARTY, which while pushing on the plot at both world and personal scales, it’s got a strong character spotlight focus. This issue is Angela’s, and was a surprise to write. They’ve all been – this is a book where I’ve got all this character material, and then when I write these individual elements I see how everything lines up. Of everything I’ve written (perhaps even included my games-journo satire, Modded) this leans on my time working as a games critic, and it’s mood is explicitly from Thief: The Dark Project. I suspect most games are the Dark Project, if you look hard enough.
Also, Stephanie does wonderful destroyed robots for Angela to sit on while thinking. There’s something for everyone. Good to be back.
Anyway – you can get it digitally here, at your local shop or read a preview here.
DIE Vol 1: FANTASY HEARTBREAKER is out. Go buy!
The two-word tongue in cheek pitch is Goth Jumanji. It’s a big, emotional, weird take on the portal-fantasy genre. It’s about comparing teenage dreams with adult realities, and wrestling with what fantasy is for. It’s got the most startling art from Stephanie Hans, Clayton bringing the words to life and Rian Hughes coating it all with a modernist design sheen. I’m deeply proud of this one.
The trade collects the five issues, edited version of the essays, some lovely interstitial art from Stephanie, a covers gallery, design work and probably more. It’s $10, which is a total steal.
Grab it, have a nose, etc.
Also, we have just released the first DIE RPG open beta. Go grab the PDFs over here. I’m sure I’ll write more about that soon, but I don’t want to confuse this release post. In short - a bespoke RPG as written by Kieron, for your amusement.
DIE 5 preview, out tomorrow (April 3rd). Links to buy and pre-order digitally here. Otherwise, available from your local comic shop.
The end of the first arc. We hope you enjoy it.
Out today. The conclusion of the arc. It looks like this...
And I hope you like it. The trade is out in June. Back after that - we’ll give a specific date soon.
DIE 4 is the penultimate issue of the first arc, and about reaching Glass Town and going to the pub. If the first arc is showing various things we do, this is the one where we step past that, and then give some spotlight time for each of the characters. It’s a human and intimate one, which is lucky, as the next one is huge. End of arc, y’know?
Also the start of my final arc on STAR WARS, the Scourging of Shu-Torun. Andrea Broccardo does this, which is basically the getting-the-team-together issue. I am very fond of Tunga’s intro scene.
DIE 4 is out today. Here’s the preview above. I’ll do a proper post later and obviously have stuff in the newsletter.
In short: Glass Town! Pub! Emotions!
