Cat whiskers

Many mammals, such as cats, rabbits and rats, use whiskers to sense their surrounding environment. Even though humans have no such whiskers, scientists at the Weizmann Institute have recently learned that you can teach humans to "whisk" with artificial whiskers.

It is normal for cats to shed whiskers, but they should shed one or two at a time, and should not shed as frequently as their fur.
