The Tapac-Yauri, also known as the Golden Staff, is a divine Incan weapon that turns Maria Mendoza into the Wonder Woman.

History

In the ancient waters of Lake Titicaca, Manco Capac, the son of the Sun God, rose with one burning purpose. His purpose was to create the legendary city of Cuzco in the land men call Peru. After traveling for a great time and a great distance and facing indescribable horrors, Manco Capac plunged the golden staff he was given by the Sun into the ground, sinking it all the way. Then he knew he had found the fateful site, and the fabled city of Cuzco was born, a place so wondrous, a place of beauty, peace and plenty.

The golden staff was unearthed much later locked within a tablet rune hidden in an Incan temple. Armando Guitez and his men were excavating the site when Armando caused an unhappy event which forced Steve Trevor and Maria Mendoza into the temple to flee from him. Seeking the hidden evil within the template Armando smashed the first tablet making him the host of the same evils that the Incan's sought to defeat. Maria shattered the second tablet by accident unleashing Tapac-Yauri and making her Wonder Woman.
