Synopsis for "The Terrible Trio"
The Prankster, The Toyman and criminal scientist Lex Luthor meet by chance at the same amusement park. All are temporarily out of ideas, so they form a teamup; assuming this will give them inspiration. Prankster and Toyman's crimes are imaginative failures. The trio escapes only because Superman is occupied rescuing bystanders from such dangers as falling safes and miniature figures of Superman that are explosive devices.
Luthor egotistically reads out his two partners for their "inflated reputations" and launches something called THE FLOATING AIR MINES----gigantic explosive devices that circle over Earth's major cities. Each city is ordered to pay one billion dollars apiece or face destruction.
While destroying the devices one by one,Superman encounters one that is booby trapped with a Kryptonite coating. Luthor then launches THAT mine into deep space with Superman trapped on it.
But Kryptonite does not affect Superman's vision powers. He uses his heat vision to prematurely explode the mine where it will harm no one, and he escapes unharmed.
Returning to Earth, Superman easily captures the surprised trio. To his delight, Prankster and Toyman are so delighted to have Luthor's ego punctured that they basically surrender without a fight.
