Awkward Man is a member of the Inferior Five with the powers of super strength and the ability to live underwater.
History
His parents are Mister Might and Mermaid of the retired Freedom Brigade.
While teaching at Dean Egghead's Academy for Super-Heroes, he met and fell in love with the villain Angel Fish.

- Superhuman Strength: Strong enough to knock out Jörmungandr underwater.[1]
- Amphibious Nature
- Super-Leaping: While he could not "leap tall buildings in a single bound" like his father, Awkwardman was still easily able to jump 13 floors of a skyscraper.
Weaknesses
- Asphyxiation: Like his mother, the Mermaid, Awkwardman must frequently immerse himself in water to survive. [2] The maximum period that he can survive outside water is unknown.

- Although this character was originally introduced as an inhabitant of DC's Pre-Crisis Earth-Twelve reality, their existence following the events of the 1985–86 limited series Crisis on Infinite Earths remains intact. However, some elements of the character's Pre-Crisis history may have been altered or removed for Post-Crisis New Earth continuity, and should be considered apocryphal.
Trivia
- Awkward man is the son of Mister Might and the Mermaid. While Mister Might is based on Silver Age Superman, the Mermaid is likely an homage to Lori Lemaris, the one-time girlfriend of Superman from the Curt Swan era.
