Kate Kane is the second Batwoman. As a young woman expelled from West Point due to her sexuality. She was inspired to become a superhero after being rescued by Batman. In The New 52, it was retconed that Kate was the cousin of Bruce Wayne, with her father Jacob Kane being the brother of Martha Kane, Bruce's mother. She has been a member of Batman Incorporated, Colony, Female Furies, Gotham Knights, Justice League, and Justice League Queer.

Kate Kane was created by Geoff Johns, Grant Morrison, Greg Rucka, Mark Waid, Keith Giffen and Ken Lashley, first appearing in 52 #7 (2006).
