Synopsis for "Ghost Sector, Part 1"
The Ghost Sector is a new sector of space, filled with old planets shrunk by the Coluans and freed by the Justice League.[1] From their Gods, the sector's inhabitants demand a meaning for their existence. The former Green Lantern Topal bears that knowledge and heads for the Guardians, but takes it to the grave as her escaping spacecraft is torn apart by giant talons, and she curses the Old Gods.
Around the Ghost Sector the Guardians have erected a perimeter and joint-Leaguer and Lantern Jessica Cruz patrols it, decrying the boredom, by communicator, to Simon Baz. She's quickly excited by Brainiac's Skull Ship blasting across the perimeter into the radiation of the Ghost Sector. But Jessica's shields fail in the maelstrom and she is only saved by Starfire pulling her on board. The crew is a surprise to Jessica - Starfire is accompanied by fellow Leaguer Cyborg and Knight of St. Dumas Azrael. Each has their own reason for being on-board, but they all hear the same voice luring them to the Ghost Sector.
Introductions are cut short, as persuing creatures and turbulance force them to crash the Skull Ship on a barren planet, where Jessica's shields protect them. They are on their own, with no Justice League and Green Lantern Corps. They don't know why the Coluans shrunk these particular worlds, nor had they known who the voice calling them — the PING — belonged to — until now. The voice was... Darkseid.
Darkseid tells them of an Old God prophesy that his father told him — of the Goddess, the Machine and the Angel who would return after the Source Wall cracked. And those three gods were Starfire, Cyborg, and Azrael.
