All-American Comics #30 is an issue of the series All-American Comics (Volume 1) with a cover date of September, 1941.

Synopsis for Green Lantern: "The Bail Bond Racketeers"

Irene Miller and Alan Scott are at the Apex Broadcasting studios, reading letters from people with problems who want them solved on the air. One of the letters they read is from a man named John Callik, who claims that a bail bond racket got him out of jail but charged him an outrageous interest rate and threatened to kill him if he talked to the police. Irene brushes off Alan's offer of dinner and heads to Doiby Dickles' taxi cab. They head to Callik's home address but hear over the radio that Callik has been killed. In order to confront the racket, Irene baits a police officer into arresting her. At her hearing, she loudly exclaims that she cannot pay the $100 fine and is put in a cell. Two men, Hedge and Wile, soon arrive to bail Irene out of jail. Irene sneaks away from the jail, trailed by Doiby. He follows her to the offices of Hedge and Wile, and Irene breaks into their office. Suddenly, the lights turn on, and Irene is discovered. The men find Callik's letter on her person and resolve to kill her and Doiby. They throw her in a car and drive away.

Alan Scott, hearing of Callik's death, transforms into Green Lantern and conducts some research, discovering the connection between Callik, Hedge, and Wiles. He also learns that the two bondsmen did business with a man named Brent and quickly flies over to Brent's home. Brent has just left with some men, and Green Lantern, fearing the worst, heads off after them. The thugs tie up Brent, leave him in the road, and speed toward him in their car. Green Lantern arrives, saves Brent's life, and takes out the thugs. Using his ring, GL hypnotizes one of the men into revealing that they plan to kill Irene by throwing her off the Interstate Bridge.

Green Lantern lands on the bridge, meeting up with Doiby. Together, the two heroes dispatch the thugs and save Irene. Green Lantern then heads off to meet Hodge and Wile, appearing while they are busy destroying their records. Wile pulls a gun, and GL allows himself to be cornered in order to sneakily use the phone and the operator to contact the police. The police trace the call and arrive on the scene only to find that Wile and Hodge have been tied up and left with the imprint of Green Lantern's ring on their cheeks. The next day, Irene, Alan, and Doiby are discussing the previous day's events. Irene considers Doiby to be her hero and gives him a kiss on the cheek. He responds by running away as fast as he can.

A safety inspector's being shown around a coal mine suggesting better safety practices when the foreman tries to bribe him into turning a blind eye. When the inspector refuses, the foreman collapses the tunnel on him. Dr. McNider and Myra are driving by, and with his superhuman eyesight the doctor's seen that the foreman went down with the inspector but came up alone. The miners investigate and find the inspector, still alive but his condition too precarious for him to be moved. Dr. McNider begs off performing the operation because of his supposed blindness, but it's mostly a pretext to be left alone so he can change to Dr. Mid-Nite to investigate more effectively. In the shaft he beats up the foreman and a pair of henchmen who are trying to collapse the tunnel and finish the job. Unable to move the injured inspector by himself, Mid-Nite brings the henchmen around with smelling salts and has them carry the patient up where his life can be saved.
