Synopsis for "Hearts of Steel"

In the Suicide Slums, Rita (under the guise of "Baroness von Hartagg") and Nudge arrived underground at Max Samson's Robot Wars. Samson showed them Cliff's body before revealing that he searched the internet for "Baroness Katrina von Hartagg and her famous Blue Steel" fighting machine and found nothing before pulling a gun on them. Twelve hours earlier, in Key Mordaz, Nudge showed her teammates robots fighting and Cliff recognized a man from the video who he wrongly believed to be dead.

As Samson held Rita and Nudge at gunpoint, the younger teammate used her powers to convince him that he found everything he needed to know when he checked the web for them. Then, Dr. Verdalian walked in before leaving the room with Rita, Nudge, and Max, allowing Cliff to sneak out. As he was sneaking out, he saw one of the winning robots with a human brain. Five years earlier, the Chief was studying Cliff's brain which was in pain.

Samson gave Rita an I.D. Card that would give her free and easy access during her next visit to the arena. As Rita, Nudge, and Dr. Verdalian returned to the room where Cliff was held, their male teammate returned before them. Four hours earlier, the Chief modified Cliff's appearance before he could be passed off as Rita's champion fighting machine. As Rita revealed her disguise, she also revealed that Nudge's real name was Kwon Mi-Sun and Faith decided to return to the Justice League and said goodbye to Nudge.

Dr. Verdalian introduced Rita and Nudge to his other wealthy guests before the older team member sent Cliff to fight Slice and Dice and he was introduced as "Blue Steel." Although Cliff seemed to have the upper hand on Slice and Dice, the latter launched a blade at Cliff's head, cutting it in half.
