Synopsis for "Time in Goliath"
Written in 2031 - this "reprint" of issue #172 begins with Lucius Reynolds, who has grown up now, heads to an abandoned junk lot where he spots an old Ambulance with Jasey (Crazy Jane had amalgamated Casey into one identity) sleeping at the wheel and Elasti-Woman walks around the corner to meet him, they wake Jasey and walk into the city.
Robotman wanders down dark alleys reading a novel "Requiem for a Crime Lord" which leads him to the Goliath Police Department, outside of which hundreds of robot bodies akin to his own are strewn around in Police uniforms. The other members of the Doom Patrol arrive, Cliff is uncertain about what happened so Lucius summons Gryzmul to hack the memory cores of the fallen robot police, he reveals that they were all headed to the bank nearby but Cliff is hit in the back by a baseball bat as one of the Syndicate swings at him and is subsequently beaten down by Cliff. Swarms of the Syndicate flood over the Doom Patrol and they escape through a portal and into the bank.
Cliff smashes open the vault door to reveal a green ape, Beast Boy had been trapped in ape form and then trapped within the vault. Beast Boy reveals that the books they are following are indicators to why the world feels so wrong, he informs the Patrol that he followed the same trail and they locked him up. The group escape and, using the books they find at each crime scene, head toward the Syndicate H.Q.. Jasey grabs a nearby taxi and they ram the car through the front doors and knock down a number of the mooks, under their masks are horrific Picasso-esque faces.
They take the elevator and travel down, knocking out and fighting the Syndicate goons along the way until they find the basement floor. As the doors open, the Patrol discover Mento who reveals that Cliff's robotic upgrade system went haywire and caused him to evolve into an entire planet (Planet Cliff) until Mento shut him down with his helmet, but the helmet had also needed to be upgraded and so the cycle started again and causing the entire city of Goliath to be run by the helm. Now, Mento puts his helmet on once again and travels back, to the present, to inform the Doom Patrol of the dangers.
Jasey thinks she can help, she asks Larry Trainor/Negative Man to send her to the underground. Only Casey appears underground but she soon finds the train car which she flies across space and time like no other could.
Back in the present, Mento opens his eyes to the Doom Patrol but he has no memory of who he is.
