Synopsis for "David and Goliath In the Sky"
In August 1918, German biplanes are dropping bombs on London, and British Sopwith Camels are intercepting them. A daylight raid is repelled but that night a giant zeppelin arrives over the Channel, bound for London. Lt. Culley takes off, from a barge in the Channel, in a Sopwith Camel, and engages this airship, at 20,000 feet. That's higher than a Sopwith Camel, or its pilot, could operate, and Culley knows this going in, but in he goes. He soon is freezing and half-conscious from oxygen loss, and his plane is handling like a wet kite, but the enemy is aloft in an enormous hydrogen balloon, so that shoot-out ends explosively. By great good luck and a quick and skillful ground crew's assistance, Culley is able to land at night on an ill-lit field, and would be able to walk away from the landing, if his squadron mates weren't carrying him on their shoulders!

Notes
- Phantom Saboteur
- Dr. Kurov uses electronic supersonic radio waves to rearrange Olaf's brain-wave patterns and turn him into a Communist. Only another treatment, with even higher sound waves, could reverse this effect.
- All of the Blackhawks, not just Hendrickson (as seen last issue), carry miniature tape recorders in their boot heels.
- Temple of Doom
- The location of Tavis' aircraft factory is never identified, but seems American.
- The nationality of "Colonel" and his troops, in the second-to-last panel of the story, is likewise never identified.
- Tavis's Ducted Fan Aircraft actually worked, but was never seen again.
- Also featured in this issue of Blackhawk was:
- Blackhawk: "The Wild Jungle" (text story)
Trivia
- According to Blackhawk, Moloch the Destroyer was also called Baal the Devourer.
