Object history Das Gemeindewappen enthält Hinweise auf zwei für den Ort bedeutende Geschlechter: Die Lilie ist dem Wappen der Edelherren von Fronhofen entnommen, die um 1140 erstmals belegt sind und in frühen Urkunden im Zusammenhang mit Forheim erwähnt werden. Der Sparren ist eine Minderung des Schragens aus dem Stammwappen der Grafschaft Oettingen. Die Grafen erwarben bereits im 14. Jahrhundert Besitz und Rechte, darunter das Patronatsrecht über die aus dem 15. Jahrhundert stammende Margaretenkirche.
