Tunnel in the Train Station Bahnhof Grunewald in Berlin with the stairs leading to track 17. Track 17 was a "loading station" for 55.000 jews from 1941 until the end of World War II. They where forcibly fetched from their domiciles and publicly diriven through Berlins streets to be deported from here to the conentration camps Theresienstadt, Riga and Litzmannstadt (today Łódź) and later directly to Auschwitz to be finaly murdered there. Today, track 17 is a memorial. See where the photo was taken at maps.yuan.cc/. |
