This is my Clausing model 5912 engine lathe. I bought it used from a seller in SE New Hampshire in 2003. I brought it back here to Northern New York. 12.25-inch swing, 36-inches between centers. It was originally equipped with a 1HP three-phase motor and a hydraulically-controlled variable-speed spindle drive. I am replacing the original drive and motor with a new three-phase 7.5HP direct-drive motor and a 480V VFD (Variable Frequency Drive).
I don't have three-phase power here. That's why I bought the VFD, which can take a 480V single phase input and synthesize a 480V three-phase output to the motor. To make 480V power, I have a large 240V/480V single-phase transformer. I think it's 10KVA or 15KVA. |
