bank, called the Bank of England, is the agent of the governmentin many of its business transactions and employs about a thousandpersons. Being a very old city, many of the London streets are narrow andcrooked. Some of the principal streets are too narrow for street cars, sothat, unlike American cities, the people have to be transported mainly byomnibuses.
