Categorisation
Hi - as per a note to VirtualSteve, I am putting in a plea for some categorisation. I know the Riverina images will go on a town page and could therefore be regarded by default as categorised. However, for example Image:CarrathoolHotel.JPG could also be categorised under Category:Hotels in New South Wales. Similarly any court house image might be usefully categorised under Category:Court houses in Australia - feel free to make more meaningful cats or sub cats - especially as they are growing too large. You can navigate cats by clicking on the plus signs at Category:Australia. Categorisation makes the images more findable. I have visions of writing articles similar to w:Court houses in New South Wales for literary institutes, post offices, ... Public architecture and how it defines towns is really interesting to my mind but there are lots of themes to explore. --Golden Wattle 23:40, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
Hi again, also as per note to VS -
- Because the categories Hotels in the Riverina and Court houses in the Riverina are sub cats of Towns of the Riverina, it is my opinion images in those cats don't need to be classified twice - ie classify in parent or child but not both places. Particularly since we have the image gallery pages to find all pictures relating to say Ariah Park or wherever. The sub cats allow to be more specific where appropriate - the galleries group the subject, in this case the town, together with meaningful captions and regardless of category.
Images tag
Hey Matt, thanks for your help in removing image tags on the Towns of the Riverina, New South Wales page. I will try and do some more today also. VirtualSteve 21:58, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
Commenting out the heading info
Great job! All but "M" now done. Cheers. --VS talk...images 20:23, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
Image Tagging Image:CulcairnSchoolof_Arts2.JPG
Thanks for uploading Image:CulcairnSchoolof_Arts2.JPG. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|cc-by-sa-2.5}} to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Image deletion warning | Image:Grape Vine Hotel.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. |

For flooding Special:Newpages with your brilliant photography and galleries. Thanks for making Commons' coverage of Victoria (bleh, you couldn't have chosen a good state like Queensland...) great! —Giggy 09:09, 3 August 2008 (UTC) |
Snowy Mountains Scheme
Hi - people who are on wikibreaks shouldn't look at their watchlists :-(
Could you please have a look at w:Snowy Mountains Scheme ? There is a new user who has yet to be welcomed and perhaps given some hints + a tidy up is needed.
Thanks --Matilda (talk) 04:01, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
- Fair enough. I must be more disciplined about not looking. I have emailed VS as well to see if he can take a sympathetic and tutorial approach. --Matilda (talk) 05:37, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
